I rented from Walter White & yes he is a slumlord. He rigs things up, uses drunks & druggies for maintenance men, & a woman I know rented from him & never paid a dollar in rent. She worked off her rent.(yuck) I know this for a fact. Walter White is a joke of a business man & landlord.

Walter WHITE. biggest slum lord i know. also when he has someone come with him to fix your home up he brings crack heads or people off of the street that he thinks can help him. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM. got an inspection and it did not pass. which he has several houses that have not passed as well.

The Black Walter White is by far the best landlord in the state. He charges tiny amounts of money. His property is in great condition. He makes repairs within forty eight hours of being notified of them. He doesn't have a racist bones in his beautiful Ebony body like MOST of the landlords, and landladies in this area do.
Walter White should be given an award for outstanding person of the year in Cape County.

Gerald Taylor is the worst landlord to rent from. He will come to your house when you are not at home and not tell you that he is coming over, nor tell you why. He likes to snoop at your house when you are not there. Has anyone rented from him? What has your experience been?

There are two things that landlords can discriminate legally and tell it to the applicants face, Credit Score & Criminal Record.
That is why they ask for full names of all adults moving in and their social security numbers on applications.
If they do not want to rent to you and your score is below 650 or you have a criminal record, even speeding tickets.
HUD & State agencies cannot force the landlord to rent you a place to live and they can just state they did not like what the credit and criminal search turned up.
If you have excellent credit over 725 and never had a run in with the law you are ideal tenants.

If you have any blemishes on your background search, even twenty years old, anyone can discriminate against you.
Race, sexual orientation, religion, nationality are still federal and state protected but Criminal History and Credit Score are the new axes landlords wield nowadays.
Just like the banks.

If your credit is over 650 why wouldn't you buy a home instead of renting a dump from these slumlords?

first time buyers, or bad credit. can renters turn slumlords in to the health department, or file charges against them?

Yes a tenant can report health issues with the city/county health departments or Police/Fire Departments.

Better yet the State Attorney Generals office can do a tenant more good.

By filing a report/complaint with the local office of the State Attorney General the state will issue legal documents that, with evidence, can force a landlord to remedy the complaint within 14 calendar days.

If the landlord fails to comply with the State Attorneys Office within 14 calendar days The State Attorney General Office will issue a noncompliant order to the tenant which allows the tenant to hire ANYONE Licensed Professional to remedy the issue and force the landlord to pay for the services rendered. At which if the landlord refuses to pay the Licensed Professional may file with the state court a mechanical lean against the property.

Once the tenant is issued the noncompliant order they need to hang on to it and hand out copies to anyone involved in anyone involved in a financial interest of the property.

The State Attorney General's Office produces a brochure titled "Landlords - Tenants Law The rights and responsibilities of Landlords & Tenants"
http://ago.mo.gov/publications/landlordtenant...

All the facts of what rights a tenant has is in there.

http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/HUD...
Is another resource but basicly refers you to the first link I posted here.

Just rememebr that when you file a complaint with the State Attorney General's Office be sure to have documented evidence such as; photos, any certified mail corespondence, witnesses name & contact info. Without evidence the State cannot proceed to contacting the landlord.

Call the city of Cape. They want to get rid of these slumlords to.They give every city a bad name.I hate to say it but i think these bad landlords do just about anything they want to do.All you people who have computers can go the govenors site at Jeff City and look up renters rights.Do exactly what it says and you may be able to get more than what your deposit was because 90% of these landlords can wait you out and hope you get frustrated and go on without getting your deposit back.If you can't get a landlord to do work on your place and it is a code violation, you can have someone do it,but you can't charge more than what the rent for a month is.Just check out your renters rights. It will tell yo everything you need to know.
