I don't know either of these men but if you want to punish someone you give them life without parole. Death would be the easy way out. That is assuming he's even guilty.

I see both points. If this guy did kill someone then he deserves to die also. In my opinion the same way he killed that person. If he gets life without parole he has to sit in jail and think about what he did. Which could make him want to kill himself for what he did. Only problem I have with life without parole is, us tax payers have to pay for that person. If they killed him then its less tax money wasted on people in jail.

Ah, I have a fan! That's so sweet. Tell me, how would you feel if it was your child who had murdered someone in self-defense? Would the death penalty still be appropriate?

No one "deserves to die".

Apparently, if you get killed, you were automatically never a bad person. Ever.

What is a "father of three" doing getting into bar fights when he has children to raise? Shouldn't he have tried to make more mature deicisions SINCE HE IS a father of three? It is horrible someone was killed, but there are 2 sides to every story. If the other guy had died, you'd all of sudden state how innocent and wonderful he use to be.

Wow! Look at what you posted! You hope that the mother of a person who defended himself is reading topix & hopes that her son burns in Hell.

You people are amazing.

I don't know him. I don't know the guy who was killed. I do know MO has a history of letting people off on self defense, if there is even a reasonable doubt. So he'll probably escape that punishment. I also have never seen proof of a hell, so he's probably clear of that, as well. So all you are left with is your hate, eating at you, while he suffers nothing. Maybe you should mourn your friend in a healthy way, instead of destroying yourself with hate.

Wow. Exactly. Simple-minded people like you are too ignorant to compile any form of a complete thought. I have no idea who either of these boys are/were. If you are of any relation to the "victim", you are just embarassing yourself and his whole family. It's trash like you that get into bar fights to begin with. Classy.

Tis true..If he does escape all penalty and is let loose how long before is vengeance repaid? How much sleep will he loose wondering is today the day.Nobody on this site can relate, nor decide the outcome..As for myself I will continue to read, and respond..If there is a god than he has plan and it was time.If Harkey is like what they say he will fudge up and end up in altercation sooner or later..Leopards can't change their spots..

Delmar, you're getting much better as you go. You're listening to reason AND correcting your grammar. Now, just one more thing... There is a space after punctuation. Your phone probably does that for you when you text, but it isn't on here.

And Monique, commas aren't just made to be pretty. You never start an ellipsis with a comma, and you don't use one before a period. Actually... YOU do, but the general rule is that you shouldn't.

As for the actual topic: If someone was chasing me and I had a pocket knife, you bet your sweet ass I would stab him. Especially if we were both drinking. Not excusing the repeated stabbing; just stating what I would do in the same situation.(I don't go out drinking - I only drink at home. I know I get mean after a few drinks, and I never carry a pocket knife except a fairly dull one somewhere in the bottom of my purse.)

When my Dad was in the Army, years ago. He was walking home from a card tournament when he got jumped on by 2 guys. They were trying to rob him. My Dad had a knife on him, but he felt that it wasn't neccessary to use it. He was hospitalized for days after that. He had to have surgery. He was on crutches for weeks. That's a real man. In this instince, I feel he would have had all rights to use the knife, and if one was possibly killed, then it would have been self defense. My guess is he told my brother and I this story to teach us that there are other ways to deal with situations like this one, besides murdering or causing harm to one. I feel this Harkey kid's story is a bunch of bull.

Sounds like your father exhibited poor judgement. I'd have used the knife, and stayed out of the hospital. If a real man is a soldier who won't use deadly force to defend himself, I guess I don't want to be a real man.
