Is it true that if you have a tooth that is perhaps dying or abcessing that it can affect your heart if not taken care of? I haven't been to the Denist for several years. I think I need to go.

You should definitely go. An abscess is no joke and it will spread if not taken care of. In most cases the dentist will drain it, give you antibiotics and you'll be fine in a couple of days.

thanks I'll have to go, even though I get panicky about it. Do you know if Dr. Ward is still in Cape or did he retire and who took his place? Every time I drink something hot or cold my nerve let's me know it, I've had problems with tooth in past.

Dr. Aden on Independence is good. I'm a wimp when it comes to dentists; anxiety attacks. The people there are very nice and understanding.
And yes. You should go soon.

I have a friend who had an abscess some years back, now he is diabetic, so that did have some effect, but the abscess spread down into his jawbone and he had to have part of his bone removed. So, abscesses and tooth infections are nothing to play with, go see someone, soon!

If you want to save the tooth you don't need an oral surgeon you need a dentist or an endodontist. Dr rhoades is the only endodontist specialist in this area and he is excellent.

Go to bennett family dentistry in cape. They are very good. I did a lot of research when i was looking for a dentist to have my teeth. They have won several awards. I had extensive decay after having several children. That's very hard on your teeth. Bennett is the only one who didn't tell me to just pull them. They fixed my front teeth for 200 a pop and they look totally natural. I highly recommend. AND he is great with people who are afraid of the dentist. They even allow you to watch dvd's while you are in the chair getting the work done. :) By the way simple cavity repair is 120 a tooth. And yes not getting it fixed can affect your heart health. I now have high blood pressure and s.v.t. (supra ventricular tachycardia) because i let my teeth go so long.

Keri, I got in trouble with an infected tooth over the summer and ended up in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. Thought I was going to die. It is true that an infected tooth can effect your health, heart and more, if left untreated. It can also effect other teeth and bone. After finally getting rid of most of the infection, I had oral surgery and ended up losing 3 teeth and part of my jaw bone. My dentist is Dr. Michael Bennett and my oral surgeon was Dr. Sheets. Neither are to blame for the infection. It was my negligence and fear that made it so bad. It's better to take care of it early or you will end up like me. I'm still recovering! No fun at all because I waited to long.

T. Wayne Lewis in Jackson is really top notch. I was nervous because I had an extra tooth bud but he was very calming and his work was excellent, leaving no scars or anything.

Yes it can actually kill you, very quickly actually. I would go ASAP if you think you may have a dental abscess.

the sinus area either. It's hard to not to learn to live with sinus problems in this area, but an untreated sinus infection can kill you too. Knew of a teen boy that ended up with meningitis from a sinus infection. Any illness affecting any part of the head can become serious pretty quick.
Who are affordable, reliable healthcare providers for self pay patients in this area? Self employed, responsible couple with teens that can't afford insurance premiums that we have been quoted and are new to this area. Not looking for free ride but not wanting to get ripped off either. I know the cost of running a business and don't hold that against a good provider. So any help finding good provider's is welcome.
