Ok yesterday we went to the Humains society. About a dog and we where told that the dog we wanted was spayed and only 80. 00 for adoption fee. And was told that it went up for adoption tomarrow, just feel out papers to be approved. So we got their and waited with another couple about a different dog but same scenario for an hour. And today we where told that cause we where waiting on a dog that several people wanted that we could not take her home today. Cause the vet wasn't in to spay a dog that we where told yesterday was spayed and the price went up sixty dollars. Now we have donated to this cape girardeau mo Humane society but if this is something funky going on we are done and so are our friends. So let us know if this has happened to you

The Humane Society has a bad name because of similar issues.
Kennel cough use to be a big problem there. Imagine adopting a pet only to have it die. Heartbreaking.

Adopt a pet from charleston prison. They have a program where inmates care for and train the dogs. It's 125 to adopt but they are spayed or neutered, housebroken, and trained to sit, stay, lay down, and other commands and tricks. They get their dogs from safe harbor. All are up to date on shots, have regular vet care, and your adoption fee goes directly to the dog program. Food, collars, leashes, etc. It's a good deal especially considering they're house trained. They have all kinds of dogs. Call the prison and ask what you need to do.

The so ill-named, Humane Society in Cape, does have a bad reputation.

All they are interested in is the fee that they collect from the Cape taxpayers, through awards from the city council, to house the dogs for a few days, then kill them.

It is all about the money. All they want is that fee from the Cape taxpayers.

Someone ought to make protests at City Council to get some of that fee going to the no-kill shelter, Silverwalk, to house some Cape dogs, and cut in on some of the scam that the so-called Humane Society has been running.

It is difficult to understand how the Humane Society people come around soliciting donations so they can operate. In the meantime, people on the national Board of Directors get paid millions per year.

Itisdher,

Yes, indeed. It is a quandary, isn't it? Same goes for United Way, Red Cross, Cancer Society, and other CEO's and heads of local groups salaries.

Begging to be rich?

Why not? Jo Ann Emerson forced us to Bail Out her Greedy, Gambling, Corrupt as hell Wall Street Banker pals, so, I guess the CEO's of these "charities" thought that they should get a crack at our money, too.

You all sit here and say how it's such an awful place... It's understaffed and underfunded for what it really needs, and the "no kill" shelter isn't a whole lot better off dog or cat wise, no shelter will be 100% perfect, they have to deal with all kinds of different issues and people on a daily bases, they may only keep a animal for a few days but when you have 100+ cats and dogs brought in monthly you have to do something about it. If you're so against how the place is go volunteer and actually make a difference about it all and help tale care of the animals, also you can't blame them for mixing up info from time to time shit happens

I think the animal shelters should feed the ones that don't get adopted to the homeless

In the meantime, it turns out PETA is killing the majority of animals it "rescues". If PETA shows up, animals, run for your lives!!!

Absolutely true. It's easy enough to research. I would never donate to such a corrupt organization.

Im not sure about the Cape HS but I know a lot of them now run background checks on you and want to inspect your home/require a fenced in yard, etc. just to adopt a pet that would otherwise be eventually euthanized. It is ridiculous these people always want donations and complain about over crowding while they are also so picky. I understand they do not want someone to adopt and animal and then abuse it or give it back but those are characteristics that can usually be identified when you meet the individuals face to face. Why does a 10 lb. dog need a large fenced in back yard and why do they need pictures of my home? Its bullshit, go to a breeder and save yourself the headache.
