Ok..to the poster who complains that they wait 3 hours..you do realize its not that they are short staffed or in break its that when you are triaged you are rated on you emergency hence you being at the emergency room..anyone who walks after you and has a more serious condition or any ambulance or Med Flight that comes in automatically gets bumped ahead of you. Also Er's run lab work/x-rays etc and have to wait for the results to come back..aka Cape Radiology has to read the results and lab values have to be run. Soo if you are really upset about your sinus infection not getting seen in the Er after 3 hours can I suggest that you go into a walk in clinic or perhaps a doctors office? Or maybe call the ambulance to escort you in so you get seen over all the strokes and chest pains
Well see that's where your wrong. It was chest palpitations. So now what do you have to say about that? I didn't want to get into my condition, but now that you brought it up. You can call me a liar or whatever you want. I know how it was. Just thought I would set you straight on that and for the last time I'm done with this. I've got better things to do. Would love to argue but I'm not. Thanks for hearing me out though.

thank you for agreeing. I had to find some help somewhere. I couldn't breathe because my throat and tongue was swollen. Guess st. Francis wanted me to go home and wait till I passed out from lack of oxygen for it to be a different cause rather than I need to quit smoking.

Uh, you posted on topix and you're telling me to mind my own business? Are you really that stupid?? Oh, and you made my point for me. If people didn't use the ER as a dr's office, those with more serious illness wouldn't have to wait 3+ hours. The fact that you waited that long PROVES that you did not have an emergency, because they would have triaged you ahead!!

I suspect your brain is no stranger to the lack of oxygen.

Temper your excitement, you're not hitting anything. If you continue to smoke after receiving medical advice to quit, and knowing full well the dangers of smoking, your brain must be damaged at some level and thus my comment. So, toke up, we'll have the last laugh.

Seriously! Why would anyone ask about ER docs before they need them? And on Topix? You really think Topix will give you the most usable info on this topic? You ARE SICK in the head. Go to Farmington. Not SE psych...straight to Farmington. SFMC docs are employed by SFMC. SE docs are owned by management company.

In St. Louis, you don't have to wait 3 hours to be seen.

<quoted text> To all of you who replied on here about "A true emergency", you need to be quiet. I know some aren't true emergencies.. It was a true emergency. I could not go to a walk-in office with this problem they would tell me to go to the ER..It's bad when the nurse is rude and then you have to wait 3 hours in the waiting room (and that's the truth). Surely ithey cannot be that short on help.(I guess it was break time). Then on top of that the Dr.(which I will not mention)seemed clueless. All I asked on here was if you could call before, and find, out who is on call and wanting to know who the Drs. were. Sounds like some of the replies I got were from some employees who don't like their job. I suggest finding another job.. Next time I think I'll just go to St. Louis afterall, it doesn't take 3 hours to get there. It's ridiculous and something needs to be done regarding the time limit set in the waiting room and then when you get back into the room to wait again. Seems like you need to get with the program. If someone has something to say about this apparently I'm stepping on some toes,so to speak. I would love to argue about this all day, but I'm done. I know how it was. Thank you!
Again, if you have time to go to another ER in this town , not an emergency. Typical, you will deny this but you Have the VIP RED CARD---medicaid.So WE the taxpayers are footing the bill for not one but two " emergency" visits. Plese do go to St. Louis, does medicaid pay your gas and fooD? Also you will have plenty of time to drive there since your illnes was "NOT AN EMERGENCY"

I had an allergic reaction, went to SFMC ER, was treated right away. I guess the difference was that mine was actually an emergency. I only had a 30% opening to breathe through, my eyes were swollen shut, my face was round from swelling, and I had broken out in hives throughout my entire body. Luckily I live close. See the difference here is that if I would've waited for 5 minutes then decided to go to southeast I would've died. So quit complaining about going to the ER for a minor, non emergency. I have a family practitioner that I see for anything that isn't terribly urgent. Your reaction sounds like a couple benadryll would've solved your problem, you passed Walgreens and Schnucks on your way there anyway.

But I have medicaid, so when I walk in to the hospital E.R. with my 6 kids by 6 different daddies, I deserve to go straight to the back and have my runny nose taken care of.

The national average wait time for an ER is 4 hours. Both Cape hospitals have averages just below the national average. That's the facts.

Wait time would be less if many of the people who go to an ER went to a doctors office or clinic instead.

Here we go again. SE switching out their ER/Hospitalist contracted company. So there will be a new crop of temps you all can scam for your drugs.
