I'm starting to see more and more posts that are expressing strong disbeliefs in the Lord. What is happening for the increase of non believers?

Logic and reason is what is happening. The arguments for God, especially the Judeo-Christian one, does not hold up very well when looked at with any objectivity.

That which can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof.

Prayer pisses me off. People pray for things they have the means to change themselves. Especially when someone makes a rebound and everyone thanks the prayers and God. Lemme let you on a little secret, GOD didn't do that. Why? Because he doesn't exist. Thank the doctors whom went to school for nearly a decade, and thank science and medicine.

Probably has something to do with scientific proof slowly eating away at modern religions foundation, especially considering most religious institutions in that part of the country (bible belt) choose to live in the past. Also, when you look at all the negative things stemming from religion most young people would rather identify themselves as non-affiliates in order to discover there own relationship if any for themselves. After all, isnt that what finding and having a relationship with God is suppose to be? Not everyone needs to go sit through long sermons, give lots of money away, and then be criticized because there lifestyle does not match up with what a certain church organization deems appropriate. After all, the pastors that church goers listen to are just thought of as qualified because they went to a school that taught them what the bible says. Is this not something you could discover on your own by reading it or are you just too dumb and lazy. Its like saying a business professor is an expert at business, which in reality they are just teachers who couldnt hack it in the business world. If they could they would be making a lot more $$$

Ignorance of what the Bible says is what led this threads original poster to pose their question, and further ignorance of what it says has led to the subsequent responses.

Ignorance? Enlighten us then to which part we are ignorant of. The Earth being 5000 years old? The guy who supposedly lived in a whales stomach? The part where Humanity is derived from a gene pool consisting of two individuals? Or the part when a guy builds a boat large enough for two of every animal.. And then somehow acquires said animals? Please let me know how I'm ignorant.

I think god is an alien. He came here and did some genetic engineering on the Neanderthals and here we are.

The Arch was a space ship that did have two of every animal of it that through genetic engineering turned out right the first time that god wanted saved. He destroyed his mistakes and started all over again.

He will be coming back one day to see if his experiment is to his liking. If not the world will be destroyed again.

We live in a age of science, we don't need fairly tales to explain why the sun comes up and the seasons change anymore. Even Christians don't believe in the bible. I don't know how many times I've heard," it's figurative not literal", or " you are interpreting it wrong". Sorry but if I was a god and I wrote a book of law, it would be clear and precise. No interpretation necessary. Also, I would expect it to be literal, no questions asked. I would also make an occasional appearance just to remind people that I'm still around.

I believe in the Church of Baseball. I've tried all the major religions and most of the minor ones. I've worshipped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I learned that, I gave Jesus a chance.(sigh) But it just didn't work out between us. The Lord laid too much guilt on me. I prefer metaphysics to theology.

You see, there's no guilt in baseball, and it's never borin'(giggle)- which makes it like sex. There's never been a ballplayer slept with me who didn't have the best year of his career. Makin' love is like hitting a baseball, you just gotta relax and concentrate. Besides, I'd never sleep with a player hitting under .250, unless he had a lot of RBIs or was a great glove man up the middle.

You see, there's a certain amount of life wisdom I give these boys. I can expand their minds. Sometimes when I've got a ballplayer alone, I'll just read Emily Dickinson or Walt Whitman to him. And the guys are so sweet, they always stay and listen. Of course, a guy'll listen to anything if he thinks it's foreplay. I make them feel confident, and they make me feel safe - and pretty. Of course, what I give them lasts a lifetime. What they give me lasts 142 games. Sometimes it seems like a bad trade, but bad trades are part of baseball. Now who can forget Frank Robinson for Milt Pappas, for God's sake! It's a long season, and you gotta trust it. I've tried them all, I really have. And the only church that truly feeds the soul day in, day out, is the Church of Baseball

In the book of James we are warned to be aware of science falsely so called. Modern science does not seek to prove or disprove the existence of God. In fact, no matter what evidence is ever uncovered, the existence of God can not even be considered. What science does is collect data and develop a theory. The accuracy of that theory is irrelevant, since any contrary data found later only leads to restructuring that theory to include the new data. Even if God did create everything science could not pose that theory. The existence of God is not disprovable, therefore cannot be considered, even if it is the the reason for all that exists. Thats why it is science falsely so called. Its not the acquisition of knowledge, but instead the acquisition of data to be used in an attempt to soothe the conscience of a God rejecting world.

Wow, Who do you turn to when in need? Do you say OH God, My God, God bless, You all know there is a superior being. Thank God he is a forgiving God . I ask you have you ever seen a baby being born, a rose blooming, the leaves of a tree taking shape, Have you ever had a unexplained miracle. That is God and he is bigger than you or me and someday you will meet him face to face and then you will know him also.
