I personally think we should have an LGBT support group or GSA(Gay, Straight Alliance) put place in CHS. There aren't that many Gays or Lesbians, but I'm sure there are but they just aren't out yet because of their friends, parents and religion. They should be able to go, (and already 'out' individuals) to a safe, secure place and be able to be open without ignorance or judgment. Straight people should be able to join, if they are advocates of LGBT civil rights. Most kids here are suppressed and aren't able to be openly gay because of hate at our school. I personally don't get very much, but others do and I feel like they need a place to be open and be themselves so they will have a lowered likability to attempt suicide or think about it.

Sorry, bad idea. When did lgbt have anything to do with education? School is there to teach you different things, not provide support groups for anyone. If you want a support group, start one yourself outside of the school system.

It's sad that most people have to move away from the area in order to be the person they really are. Problem is until people there become more tolerant, I would be afraid the kids that join a group would be bullied by homophobes. It's time for Cape Girardeau to grow up and realize the world if full of different people!

Exactly. It seems obvious to me that Southeast Missouri needs to be educated on the LGBT lifestyle, since there are still so many homophobic or anti-gay people in the community. And plenty of students do seek support from friends and teachers/counselors at school because they cannot find it outside of school.
I do agree with the previous statement that bullying will probably ensue and I am sad to say I personally know people who have dropped out due to continued harassment. This is exactly why we need some sort of accepting club/group for any kids who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.

What exactly would they need funds for? Most clubs raise their own money if they even need any.

Fail. This has nothing to do with education nor does it belong in schools. Keep your sexual preferences ( straight or gay) your private life.

What does being a christian have to do with education? and yet we have a FCA group? I think our school would benefit greatly from such a group.

It's pretty easy to see why people are homophobic. If you don't see it then you are blind to the world and should learn the history of your sexual orientation.

This type of club would fail at cape central. But I guess if you really want to start it then go talk to Mrs. Stausing and I will stand waiting to see how long it takes Womack to cause a riot against it.

Please explain to me how it's "easy" to be homphobic. Or, since I am straight, explain my history of sexual orientation.
What's wrong with Mrs. Stausing or Mrs. Womack? Both are lovely teachers.

I'm not going to get into a history lesson, but I will explain the teachers. Stausing is very pro gay marriage and loves anybody that is a little different, she embraces homosexual behavior. Womack is homophobic and believes gays has caused many problems.

I respect both teachers opinions, even if i don't agree with one or the other. Are you saying something is wrong with them because of how they view the world?

Yeah, who would need a support group in school? Fuck those gay kids, make 'em straight by lovin' JESUS! The idea's fanstastic. I don't think the prejudice is as prevalent in younger generations, just the retarded baby boomers and willfully ignorant trash.
Those kids have a lot of trouble ahead of them, giving them a hand would be very useful. People act like it's the end of times, but gay and bisexual people have always existed. Consult: all of history. Hell, if you look at other primates you'll find fuckin' around with any and all takers is a bonding thing and a book written by a corrupt organization hundreds of years after the death of a man who was a preacher of tolerance first and foremost is a bad place to ground your culturally instilled fears.
While I'm on about it, the old testament is really worthless. They're fuckin' like crazy in that town, OH YOU LOOKED NOW YOU'RE A PILLAR OF SALT!

no, I'm just stating that they are both outspoken and have strong beliefs. It would be quite interesting.

No doubt to that!! You can't have a national day of prayer, so gla groups shouldnt be allowed either. Next there will be a redneck support group, an emo support group, etc. etc.
