Memphis schools have had armed security and metal detectors for several years.

Yes, but that's Memphis. This is Cape Girardeau. Huge difference.

I want my children safe, but I don't want them having to pass through metal detectors & security everywhere they go. Fortunately mine are almost done with school. If security becomes that much of a concern, I'd homeschool.

If you think Cape schools are just as dangerous as Memphis schools, you need an education and a reality check, sister.

Protecting our children at all costs. I am for whether it be by a deteurant by placing security ,cameras, armed guards, soldiers or by what ever means possible. That is my concern for all children. Why should they be victims for learning to read and write to become productive people in the society.Cape or anywhere else is not exempt to this type of behavior.Preventative measures should be taken at an early stage to prevent becoming like the places that have been mentioned or worst.

I am very aware of how dangerous Memphis is. Thank you very much! I am saying that there are people with mental illness everywhere!!! They do not get help and can be your next door neighbor. Unfortunately, I do not I have seen "reality" too much.By the way, I am sure your are not my sister.

Anyone who thinks that Cape can't be like Memphis is a idiot.Guest used Memphis as an example,he didn't compare Cape to memphis, your just trying to twist his comment around for your sake to discredit his viewpoint. And it's really a reasonable viewpoint.I understood what he is saying and have a open mind about his viewpoint as well .

Banning weapons in the US isn't going to do sh1t when it comes to protecting the children. There are many other forms of weapons that are not made of metal and can be easily sneaked in.

What about Sandy hook? Lets compare sandy hook, cape, columbine, Bum Fk Egypt Jr High and Memphis, do you begin to see now? If not take your head out of the sand and realize NO ONE is truly safe. At any given moment the unthinkable can happen!

my sister has a master's in education. she lasted two years in the inner schools of st. louis. she could hear the students talk about the drugs, and gangs in cape girardeau mo. so wake up she had a guard walk her to and from her car and the school she was working in. all it's going to take is a drug deal gone bad, or a crazy person to kill students and teachers. don't think for a minute that it can't happen in cape. WRONG!!!!!
