I can understand how patients fall at nursing homes but to break a hip and suffer for 19 days without it being discovered is unbelievable!

Easy it's called negligence. Unfortunately it happens frequently in the health profession. My advice for you would be to hire a competent attorney and sue thier asses! That's the American way.

I don't believe that first guest knows what they are talking about. It's probably a mad x employee.

Worked there myself. Its a bad place to work. They work them under staffed and patients fall all the time. They dont have enough help feeding the guys so they dont get to eat all their food. Really sad place. Feel bad for the guys!!

I believe it's true also. sometimes the nurses don't do shit when people fall. barely look at them tell you to take a set of vitals and tell you to throw them back in bed! obviously the people who do not believe this has never worked at a nursing home. I have been a cna for 13 years and a cmt for 9 believe me I have seen I too many times!!! and just because everybody thinks the vets home is so great they think bad stuff doesn't happen there believe me your dead wrong!!!

I used to work there too and yes there was some negligence at the veterans home, but I have also worked at other nursing homes that were far worse than the mvh. We did work short handed but I've also worked far more short handed at other facilities. It was a good place to work compared to other places

Dad loved to dance and play Bingo before the fall, now I doubt if he ever gets out of his wheelchair. I wonder if they will pay his hospital and surgery bills? Shouldn't they carry some kind of insurance to cover accidents. We were not even told about the fall, I saw blood on the floor 4 days later and started asking questions.

The dpoa should have been told when it happened. They always call families when they are suppose to. You're lying.

Every time I witnessed a fall I always made sure the families were contacted. I do not think there would ever be a fall that serious that wouldn't be reported. Maybe in another facility, but not the veterans home.

And, you say it wasn't discovered for 19 days? In ur last post u said u started asking 4 days later. You could have taken him yourself on that 4th day to the doc/hosp to have it looked at if u were concerned that they weren't doing their job. Obviously u didn't or you would have discovered it way earlier than 19 days later.

Accidents happen unfortunately.....it is possible no one saw the fall. In some people a fall doesn't happen first a fracture does. Weak bones.....so sorry for you all!

They sent him to the hospital for cs on the head and back. I asked on that 4th day why he was in the chair and was told he was sore after the fall?????? they only sent him to the hospital 19 days later when he complained of stomach pain and was running a temp

Sounds like after the comments I should take the advice of "someguy" and at least have an inquiry.

They are probably a family member that visits once n a blue moon. Ppl just drop their family off and leave. Then want to come when they aren't doing so good and they can take their money. They should be concerned About them starting day 1 not every once in a while?!

If maybe the best thing to do at any of them is move a camper on their parking lot.

I once worked there and they are way understaffed and people get mandated daily. They once wanted me to work a 16 hour shift, be off for 4 hours and come back and work a 12 hour shift. I also live almost an hour away so I would have gotten what, An hour of sleep? Sorry wasn't gonna happen so I left.
