I've got a beef with this business!

Went in this business last week to purchase a large quantity's worth of slab and/or sliced smoked bacon.

The dude behind the counter said I have slab bacon in the back, but (I just can't sell it to you!) Okay what about all the sliced bacon you have here in your display case, I'll take all of it.

The salesman behind the counter said the bacon in the display case was for sale in small quantities, but that he would not be able to sell it all at one time to me!

WTF are these people in business for, if it's not to sell their products to cash paying customers?

Suffice to say once I was a loyal customer, but after this, they can kiss my ***! Word of mouth can help or hurt a business, and I am pissed off, and will spread word of mouth in the extreme negative to this business for damn sure!

And too quote an older article in the Southeast Missourian, "We've totally restructured the way we approach our customer service," Rob Osborn said. My comment, bullshit!

There meat is always fresh and there prices definetly beat any grocery stores. Like i said before we dont even buy meat at any grocery stores. And they have meat package also ranging from 40 to 60 dollars and you get alot of meat. There the place to go. There meat isnt fatty either

The new esicar's has the best prices in town! Their meet is always fresh, and in case you ill informed people need to know... Fruitland and Old Hickory have seperate owners. To quote, "Each is independently owned and operated." I have tried both of the meat retailers, and in my opinion the new Esicar guys have their stuff together. Try their bbq ribs on friday.

i am the owner of old hickory specialty meats. if anyone has had a bad experience in my store i am sorry for it. however to my knowledge the first post on this thread is totally incorrect. we have never refused to sell bacon in any quantity if we have it available. our bacon is not 4.89 a pound it is 4.80 and if you would rather buy cheap bacon with no flavor and a chemical process to the curing please go to another store. we sell only the finest quality products, chemical and hormone free, processed in store.

We love Old Hickory Specialty Meats. We stop there at least twice a week on our way home to grab whatever we're in the mood for making for dinner that night. Great quality meat, especially their bacon, steaks, ham salad, pork chops, horseradish...we haven't bought anything that we didn't enjoy. Jack is building a fantastic business the RIGHT way, and any special request we've ever had, from "Traeger advice" to a 25-lb raw ham, they've been happy to oblige.

Go back in. Explain your situation. I have no doubt they WILL take care of you.

Jack, we should pay you 3 times the money for you to smoke the bacon?
I'll get by just fine with the $1.69 slab bacon before I pay you $4.80.

guest, wake up. That is a famous quote he was repeating. Do you question its wisdom. You get what you pay for, otherwise buy you a possum sandwich and enjoy it.

His little bit of smoke isn't going to make the quality of the bacon any better, he's a joke.

Thurston, I am afraid you just don't get it. Our entire process for curing is completely different from that of the big packers like Oscar meyer. It is dry cured and smoked, sliced by hand to whatever thickness you desire. Quality is what I sell and produce, cheap poor quality mass productions, I leave to those with lower standards. And as to guests comment, the term (ain't) has become quite common in modern American speach and is perfectly acceptable when quoting someone else. So I would strongly suggest you rethink your self appointed position as the arbiter of class
