$9 or $100, a business owner won't get more production from employees.
What an owner can be assured of is their business will go down the tubes. More closings and more people filing for unemployment is a no win situation.

Obama wan't to raise it so he can collect more tax dollars. It's all about tax dollars. Every thing will be higher in the stores. Minimum wage workers will still be in the proverty bracket. Congress will just raise the proverty line to 22,000.00. They will run all the way to the bank with more of your money. Uncle Sam will have more of your money to pass out for welfare.

You also don't understand that labor cost is the easiest cost to control in a business.$9 wouldn't effect a businesses profits in any negative way. In fact it would most likely improve them as workers would try harder.

I am NOT against raising the minimum wage. Only because I know my company will then give me I have to raise to compensate. and look at where your life went wron, then take steps to try to fix it. Granted you are trying, you need to try harder.

Yeah a raise will make fast food unaffordable and they will have to close probably around 7, but hey heart desease and diabetis is about 50 percent and they blame that on fast food so maybe it's the best thing to make it unaffordable to eat fast food. I'm all for it. Put the hurts on Micky Ds and Burger King, and all the rest. :)

Minimum wage is to high as it is. There jobs cover entry level positions with not a whole lot of smarts. Not being rude. But the work force that's makes that wage should be kids, college students or adults looking for part time work. You work your way up the ladder and bust your butt to get more money. I personally think the wage should be cheaper. Everything goes up except other people's paychecks. You take someone who entered the workforce, worked for 5 years and finally got to making decent wages. The government comes and says let's raise the min. Wage to 9.00. That other guy had to work his way past 9.00 the new people get handed the 9.00. It is what it is. Get on your feet and better yourself. If you settle for min wage then that's what you get.

Why is it our economy is such a rollercoaster? Why can't lower and middle class live comfortably and have a good standard of living?

It's because BS like this happen, and money rules the world.

9.00 per hour is not very much money. I would not throw a fit about people making 9.00 per hour. This is not even a living wage.

Does it matter. Fact is, businesses are going to pay employees as little as possible. There are numerous threads about how many people are on welfare, but a lot of those people on welfare do work just not enough to live.

I love the idea of a minimum wage, but the practice of it is not very good. Take, for instance, someone who is currently making $11 an hour. If minimum wage goes up, so will the cost of living. Now our worker's pay, while remaining the same, goes less far every month, bringing them further down into poverty.

And for those who will tell that person to just get a better job, you obviously aren't paying attention to math. There are far more people than well-paying jobs.

No, I do not own a business. If I did own a business and I could not afford to pay my workers a measly 9.00 an hour then my business would be a failure and I would need to find something else to do.

I do, and I start people @$12 hr with the expectation of them to be worth $14 hr within 90 days. If they're not they're replaced. I expect an average return of $45 hr per employee, if they fail to make that I can't keep them employed.

I assume you don't own a McDonald's, Sonic or other business where a high school diploma is the only requirement.
