So pizza places got in trouble here recently for under paying their drivers. I was making $5 an hour plus .90 cents per delivery. The area supervisor said that was the federal governments interpretation of the law! Really? Laws were not made to be interpreted! They are laws! They are still screwing their drivers. They are suppost to get 55 and a half cents a mile or min wage. So how does the government make them pay? They pay them pay back less than 1% of total back pay owed to those drivers and allows them to give 1.39 per run and now they get $4.50 an hour. It works out to be at 40 hours and runs taken to still be less than min wage. They average the runs out to be 2.5 miles round trip, the actual average is is 4.5 round trip. They used the closest runs to calculate this so they could get out of paying their drivers. And management wants you to clock out deliveries before they are ready to make the times look better also! while you are getting paid less money. On average when I worked there I took 23 runs a night in a 8 hour shift. Each run is average to 12 to 15 minutes. 5.75 of my hours were spent on the road or sitting waiting for deliveries to come out of the oven. Now when your in the store you make $7.25 so 5.75 x 4.50 =$25.88+$31.97(1.39 per run x 23)=$57.85. Then the remaining 7.25 x $16.31+$57.85=$74.16.$74.16 divided by 8 hours is?$9.27 an hour! Nice right? No! Gas and maitnence on vehicle costs. Minus fuel from car on 23 runs? At least 20 dollars. which must be calculated and deducted. So that makes $54.16 divided by 8 equals?$6.77 an hour. Now I didn't even calculate oil changes frationed for that day. Tire usage. Other wear and tare. Tips are not included in this pay says the us government so thank god for that. The area manager said if they had to pay back all that money owed they would have to close the doors. It was nearly 1 million dollars. What? Am I suppose to feel sorry for you as a company? Should I not be upset for not being given what was owed to me? And in the end we still are not making but a $15 to $20 a week difference which does not cover fuel and maitnence on our vehicles! The supervisor says well would you be ok with all these employees losing their jobs? Throwing a negative in my face to keep me from standing up against being wronged! I'm sorry but this is a dog eat dog world. If pizza hut closed would you be upset for those employees? No because your business would increase. You support capitalism until it turns it's back on you! If a pizza place closed, another business would buy them out or other businesses would increase in sales creating more jobs. CAPITALISM is only bad when big business suffers from it. But they don't have to worry about that! The government is owned and ran by the wealthy. The banks and the oil moguls! It is more important for them to lie and save themselves money than be honest and lose it all! Pizza places in cape girardeau have not given raises in years. They installed security cameras to watch employees where i worked, but can't afford to give a raise. Who is the real criminal here? Don't be a hypocrite! You are thieves and unlike the little guy? You will get away with it, but when this country is ashes, which it is coming. Mark my words. We will come for you. We will make you pay for your greed. For your lies. For your crimes against the people. Your power will be stripped from you and you will be thrown to the wolves along with your loved ones! It will be a savage and chaotic new America that rises from the ashes. See you soon a**holes!

I guess I always thought pizza delivery was like being a waitress meaning you get tips but get paid less per hour, I always feel the need to give a good tip because I thought the drivers basically worked for tips, but if you are making minimum wage plus a delivery fee then why am I tipping?

Because the delivery fee doesn't go straight to the drivers (of there is one) and it doesn't equate to much after gas and common car maintenance

yeah I see the point, and I won't quit tipping, I guess I just always figured they made like $2-3 an hour and basically lived off tips. When I worked homecare a few years back the mileage was only $0.34 a mile so atleast that has gone up

Unfortunately that's mostly true! Even in the nice parts of town they didn't tip well

The best tippers usually seemed to be college students, who most likely also worked in the food industry and know how it goes

My wife and I still tip well and it's mostly because I've been there... What's a $2 tip, then after that, what's another $2-3 on top of that, means little to me, but the difference between $2 and a $5 tip presents itself as something "big"

what's a $2.00 tip ??? smh ! I would be more than happy to get a 2 dollar tip ! That's a heck of a lot better than nothing ! Do you not realize we are not your employers ? I work hard for my money too ! Add just $2.00 to my paycheck a day and i'd be happier !Complain to your employer
About the lousy clientele they have .Then maybe they will send you to the big tippers in your area and you won't be on here complaining about the lousy $2.00 tips ! Beg your employer for minimum wage and if it's not good enough find a different job like everybody else does!I can't work and order a pizza and pay your wages .nope just won't order from where ever you work at .

Either I'm reading this wrong or you're dumb

I said what's a $2 tip and then adding another $2-3 extra for when I TIP.

I usually tip $1/item and add $2-3 when I receive pizza or some other order

I don't order out much since that's a big money "waster" but when I do I like to be nice since I've been there before

Here's the deal though as long as people fill those positions, they will continue not to pay anymore, if all the drivers refused to work for that, then they would offer more to get the job done, if you don't like your job... Quit!!! No one is making you stay there. Oh wait your like the rest of the world you need money to survive.2 options:
A-- find a different job
B-- shut the hell up do your little job and quit bitching.
Cause you know if you leave there will be someone waiting to do the same job for the same amount or less. You know you could always use the skills you went to school and learned and get a better job??? If all you are good at is delivering pizzas the b should be your best option.
