I would like the general public to know what they are really getting at Trend Setters. Dirty, disease filled equipment.(I would not recommend getting a pedicure there unless you want a fungus.) A lack of training and disinterest from the management. The general manager has hired all her friends to work in the office and they have run it into the ground. The few members of the staff that do care about the students education are being driven out one by one. Melissa Wade, who had been there almost a decade is leaving this week. Spend a few extra dollars and go somewhere clean!

Trendsetters has gone down the drain! I am a family friend of a student attending. Yes the pedicure stations are disgusting, even the faculty will say they refuse to get a pedicure done there. The management has went to crud since Melissa Wade left, she was the best chance that school had! They are very unprofessional and have instructors there who need to go back to school. I have overheard instructors talking to students like dogs and as if they are nobodies. One instructor in particular, tall very skinny with black hair and a lot of makeup should not be working there. The only thing she is concerned about is her cellular phone and smoking. Does not teach the students anything when class is in session. I used to go in there for my weekly style but all I get is attitude and snappiness from the faculty. I like the students they have all been sweethearts but I feel since Melissa left, nothing good is going to come out of Trendsetters. I agree go elsewhere. Eclipse is just down the road a few miles

Sure don't think you should be talking bad about a place you don't go to.If you have concerns you should go to the school and discuss it with them.how is coming on here going to fix the problems your talking about?

First of all, I think it is amusing that you changed your screen name but your location has stayed the same! Hmm a coincidence? Highly doubtful.
Anyhow I did go to trendsetters on a regular basis, and I know what I have seen, over heard and as well as what other students have told me. It would do no good at all to waste my time going back into that place and speaking my mind. Nothing would change!
The only thing that may fix some issues would be the state of Missouri board of cosmetology going in there or possibly contacting the BBB

I am a student there. It was sad to see Melissa go. The staff is aware of the issues with the school. A lot of improvements are in the making. Especially keeping the place clean. All students have duties they're supposed to do everyday. Of course you have those that don't step up and do their job and that gives everyone in the building a bad name.

Wow, I'm very concerned! I have a child who is supposed to start soon. There's not many viable options in this area for cosmetology education. We're going to be out a LOT of money! Is it even worth the time & energy, not to mention money?!

Honestly, I would ignore the negative comments. Is the place perfect? No. But, I feel like I have learned a lot. The only other option in this area is eclipse and I've never heard a good word about that place either. If you're there to learn, you WILL learn!

Thank you. I guess you're right, lots of people trash SEMO but I know several people that attend there & they enjoy it & are learning a lot!

Just tell your daughter to make the best of it and don't get sucked in to any of the drama. When you get that many girls in one building it happens. I choose to stay out of it. I hope I've helped!

Isn't a risk every time you get your nails done or not? Always wondered about that.

I strongly urge you to look into eclipse for your child! At this point, you will be pouring $13,000 down the drain at that place. Sure when you enroll and sign all the financial paper work they are nice as can be, then that all changes!! Wanda manages eclipse now the woman who ran trendsetters for years and she is an amazing teacher and role model for her students. I am just giving you the honest truth, what you hear about trendsetters is TRUE! I attended trendsetters for several months but I just could not handle the unfairness and unprofessionalism not to mention being talked to like a dog by some of the instructors. Good luck with whatever you choose

It's ECLIPS! It is a great school now that Mrs. Wanda is gone. Look in to it. Please don't judge a book by its cover. At least with Eclips you learn how to work with a wide range of hair types including African American.

I got my hair done at Trendsetters awhile back and the student kept dropping the comb and using the same damn dirty one on my hair! I won't be back.

Someone who did my hair dropped the comb picked it up and used it in my hair too. Is this something they're not suppose to do?

Except they don't accept financial aid, no student loans, pell grants, etc. How in the world is anyone supposed to pay $15,000 up front for their education. It looks like a very nice place though.
