The building is in shambles. It would cost more to fix it than it would to tear it down & rebuild.

My husband would LOVE to open an ice rink there. He's from the north where ice hockey is a big deal. Pretty much a lost cause though huh?

yeah go ahead and open one. obviously the old one never turned a profit so maybe we can get the city to step in and open another attraction paid for by tax payers.

Open one! My husband and I went skating all the time when we were dating. He's Canadian and was raised skating on the creek in his backyard.

ok so that's three people who plan to go maybe once a week if youre lucky. sure that's enough to pay for the zamboni. admission will be $7500 per person for one hour. skate rental is extra.

I wonder why so many people around here are opposed to having forms of recreation in the community. It's all of you jiblet heads want this place to be some boring shit hole for lazy bastards.

I used to play hockey at both and to be honest the only reason why they didn't succeed was because both were deemed unsafe for competitive games and they were both smaller than regulation. I used to skate/play hockey 3-4 times a week here in cape plus traveling to other places because nobody would play us here. Our last year of the hockey program was the highest number if players through the program. It had been growing throughout the area for a few years prior to the rinks closing. Skating is a great recreational activity and I hear people talking about how they wish there was a place around here to skate because they would love to learn.

Since Cape put in the water park and they say it is bringing in the $, then Cape should be able to afford a rink whether it is ice or roller. Water park is seasonal and the rink(s) are year round. Sounds like a sound investment to me.
Besides it is all about how a place is managed.
Managed properly =$.

Maybe it could be made to have both ice and roller skating in the same building???

I agree with Day-Glo-Dago's agreement.

Cape needs a roller skating rink. We have a roller derby team, why not a rink?

I think we should start up a petition and get people to sign it so we can open a ice skating rink. The problem is about the skating rink is that skummy people hung out there on Friday nights which made me not want to go.

That same type of people will hang out wherever there's something to do at night. Deal with it.
