i'm sorry you lost your job and i hope you find something soon, but i will not fill bad for you or your kids for loosing your power

1. you should have curved back on your gifts or maybe not wait till the last minute

2. you don't get a shut off notice if your bill was due the first of dec and you still haven't paid. i call BS

people like you are what is wrong this country, you buy gifts instead of paying bills and want others to pay for you

My priority would have been to pay the utility bill to keep the kids warm and safe.
There are sources to provide gifts for the kids.

I truly feel sorry for your job loss , but honestly the welfare of your family comes first before material items , such as gifts . If your kids are small they'd probably never notice and if they are a bit older you just sit them down and explain . Kids don't get upset with you when a home , electric and food , an a warm place to sleep is more important . It's not like it use to be years ago , the electric company now, will shut people off . You plainly admitted you had the money but chose to waste it on gifts that could have waited till you got back on your feet . My family taught me from a very young age that your bills and responsibilities come first . People will help others who truly try to do their best first .

You did right buying your children christmas gifts. Enjoying the day and time together is all you can do. There will always be bills and hard times ahead. Live for the day, tomorrow will surely come with the same set of problems.

Things and situations have away of working themselves out.

Now then, unemployment takes about three weeks to a month to receive. You should soon have your funds.

Love to you, enjoy your famiy, the memories you give them are all they take with them. Your heart is right.

There are months where they aren't allowed to shut it off, I don't think it's regulated by the temperature. Not positive though. If you have fallen on hard times you can go to the Salvation Army in cape, and if they have available funds, they run quarter to quarter and another dispersement of funds should be given on jan 1st, you can apply for assistance with the bill. The bill must be in the name of the person applying. You have to bring the shut off notice with you. And just in case, call them to ask and make sure what you need.

I'd rather my children have heat and power than toys.

You're welcome. Nobody on this site knows anyone else's story so I would rather give helpful information than make rude comments. The Salvation Army can also give you a list of other places than can help. There is a Catholic Church off broadway across from McDonalds that helps people too. Get a list from SA though. The church can help with gas money. They usually only give it to people who need it to go to a doc appointment but you can always ask. If you are sincere and tell the truth they will help you. I needed it to get to my first day of work and they helped me. Try the truth first. It's the best thing to do. Merry Christmas. Don't worry about these asses who have never needed help. I hope someone tells them to shove it if they ever need help. And I hope they have to take all their electronics, guns, and jewelry to the pawn shop, get nothing for them, and still need help. God will judge them for their deeds. God won't judge you for making your kids happy on Christmas.

No, but dfs might judge them when the kids are without heat.

The sympathy you people are showing is amazing. This person's priorites are obviously messed up.

Want real advice? Call the companies and make payment arrangements. They'll work with you.

It's not your job to judge. It's not the kids fault. About kids not having heat, that why electric company can't turn it off December thru march. Plus, there are other state agencies that help with electricity costs. If she's lost her job she can apply for cash assistance through division of family services. As far as our sympathy being amazing. I'm taking that as a compliment!! Your callous attitude is what's really amazing! Try being nice for a change. Neither you or I know the entire story. There probably isn't room for her whole story. Don't judge. She asked for help. If you don't want to help, don't make it worse by hurting people. It's not your job.

The kids have heat and power right now. She did not let the kids go without it. She has time and option. They will be fine.

Please stop acting like she did something wrong. She will take care of this. She has more money coming in with unemployment.

When its all said and done the kids will have gone without nothing. They will have it all including the christmas mom provided.
