I'm scheduled to have back surgery with dr Gibbs. Just needing some feedback on him. Pretty scared and he said that was my only option. Please no bashing just needing info.

If it was me ------I would get a second opinion in St Louis. What can it hurt to do that?

Absolutely agree! DO NOT have your surgery done by a Cape doctor. You'll live with that regret the rest of your life.

First of all I don't have to shut the hell up. Second of all ----That is my opinion ---You all can take it or leave it. I myself wouldn't have back surgery of any kind without a second opinion.

I have a rare spine problem and dr Gibbs sent me to barns for second opion. Barns agree with Gibbs. He doesn't push surgery on just to fill his pocket. He has a full plate of patients, don't need surgery or if to risky he don't do it. I know be puss I wanted them to but refused because of risk. Good doctor, don't talk much but that is ok, I would rather him think than BS me any day.

He won't be here much longer. He doesn't play well with others and will no longer be a part of his group.

What? His never finished house is still under construction! Surely he will stay around?

Did not want to cause people to fight amongst each other. He is my second opinion and I chose him as my doctor that will be doing the surgery. I just wanted opinions of others on him because I have never dealt with any neurosurgeons until this happened. I am just very scared. I wish I could go to St. Louis for surgery but I don't have the family support system to do that. I am a single parent and money is to tight to asks friends to take days off from their work to drive you back and forth and no I'm not on Medicaid. And no I don't mean that bad either.

I have news for everyone there are some excellent spine surgeons in Cape. People keep saying go to St. Louis but I can tell you if you go to Barnes or Wash U your just going to get a resident that doesn't have half the experience as some of the spine surgeons here. I know that Dr Hayward and Dr Yingling are good surgeons. Just stay away from dr Fonn.

Your right it does speak volumes. He won't settle for quick fixes. When he is done it will be right. And speaking of his house, it may never be done. It happens to be a lifetime project/hobby. This is an extraordinary home, details in every square foot. Not a cookie cutter home.

Dr.Gibbs stopped practicing d/t health reasons. He has a life-threatening disease called ALS or Lou Gehrigs disese. He also has frontal lobe dementia. Regardless of everyone's opinions he is a husband, father, friend, etc. He and his family needs prayers.

DR Gibbs has retired. When I moved to this area from Arizona I asked who is the best back cracker around. I agree Barnes has excellent doctors. But Gibbs was the man in this area. He was open, honest and did not recommend surgery unless it was necessary. Dr Barnes also was going to send me to Barnes when I finally will need cervical surgery, not because he couldn't do the surgery, but because he did not feel the hospitals in Cape could provide the post surgery care I would need. I agree now sadly he may never finish his dream house. His leaving the practice was very much like a divorce, he felt that the practice was not living up to the standard of care he set when he started it. I have been to some of the best back surgeons in Arizona, Illinois and Missouri. Dr Gibbs was one of the best, I will miss him. Anyone that has a negative comment about him have the balls to state your case, my guess is you don't have a clue

Why have you been to so many back surgeons, Keith?
Seems like you like back surgery. Either that or none of them did their job correctly.

My heart goes out to his family. I am a former patient of Dr. Gibbs and he is an amazing doctor. Very caring and goes above and beyond what other doctors do. This doctor actually cares about you personally. I thank him for what he did for me.
