Its pretty sad when a smoker can't wait an hour to smoke. I have ashtma and I should not have to go into any public place and deal with second hand smoke. A smoker's habit just does not hurt themselves but others in their path. The smell alone would knock you down. I wish they could smell the horrible stale smoke they leave. Don't harm others.

Well, I smoke and I know the ramifications, however everytime I go outdoors and breath in the air, I am subjecting myself to something. Who cares you chose this field to take care of patients who need you. Don't judge!!!!! I enjoy smoking, especially after a meal. I am very respectful to my family and others. I don't smoke around them, but the great outdoors is my freedom, and the last time I checked, this is a FREE country. My husband served 21 years in the military for me to be able to smoke inside or outside. Now please find another cause......

No one is trying to take away your freedom to smoke, just the freedom to expose non-smokers to your dangerous carcinogins. I do not judge my patients and YOU of all people see up close and personal the effects of years of tobacco abuse. Your husband also fought for my rights to petition a city to ban smoking in public places, I thank him kindly!

A business owner should be allowed to decide their own smoking policy (just like they decide what kind of food/drink they'll serve, the decor, etc.). If you don't like it, VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET AND DON'T EAT THERE! Tell them why (they probably won't give a shit, but that's their right).

I am a SEMO student from Illinois, and I love the smoking ban in place in that state. You say you should have the freedom to smoke anywhere, but I should have the freedom to go anywhere and not inhale smoke. For example, I am an avid bowler, and I am asthmatic. I am tired of going to the lanes for my league and dealing with the smoke and endangering myself.

Actually there are many people who bowl as a pass-time. I have plenty to do besides bitching, as I am busy working full time to make it through school. SEMO is a good school which has programs that rank among the best of the region and/or nation.
