I am not by any means a gun crazy lunatic with a house full of weapons. I own 1 pistol and 1 AR-15. I am Ex military. I have been trained with both weapons. I am a concealed and carry license holder and a Democrat believe it or not.
Please watch and read the following with an open mind.
From the UK.
http://www.westernjournalism.com/flashback-en...
http://www.saveamericafoundation.com/2012/12/...
Another well written and thought provoking article. By a Non gun owner.
http://www.saveamericafoundation.com/2012/12/...
I am all for getting background checks , waiting periods ,even restrictions on certain firearms and their ownership and any sensible regulations to help stop these acts of terrorism that do not interfere with the 2nd Amendment of the constitution of the United states. Guarding schools , better mental issues addressing ,even locking mental patients up if needed.
I'm writing this plea because I simply fear what will happen to my beloved country should it make the mistake of attacking its own constitution.

You are citing skewed and agenda filled sources for your position on this issue. If you'd like to see if firearm regulations work, take a look at the percentage of firearms used in violent crimes (US) compared to all crimes in the UK.

US Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS)
http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/index.cfm...
Of all violent crimes, firearms were used in 8% of them.

House of Commons Firearm Crime Statistics
www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/sn01940.pdf
Of all crimes, including violent crimes, firearms were used in 0.3% of them.

Any questions?

Did you also happen to see how violent crimes in the US have decreased since 2007 while gun sales increased?

You're right the UKer's in this video have skewed and agenda filled positions. They are victims of stripped liberties. The UKer's themselves talking about the UK and what they think of it.

Like your posts and views don't have an agenda. Seriously what kind of dis-qualifier is that. I'd rather get information about the horse from the horse not the rider.

Did you see that our country has much warmer summers with less rainfall since 2007 while gun sales increased? Yeah, that is just as irrelevant as what you said. If not, show supportive statistical documentation from an unbias source where one justifies the other. Que the crickets.....

For a country of "stripped liberties" they seem like a happy, safe, secure and a level headed society in general, with a few exceptions of course. I spend about 24 days a year in Greater London or the West Midlands and the civil harmony is nearly palpable to me.

The facts I used to illustrate the percentage of firearm usage in crime came from Parliament stats and our own Justice Department, not a radical Yahoo blogger with a book for sale.

Ahhhh....the typical Liberal argument. The only opinion that matters is yours. Anyone else must have world wide approval before you'll accept anything. How about this, you want to ban guns because more guns = more violence. Show me the stats that support your argument. What's that? You can't? Of course not because it would completely contradict the numbers that come straight from the FBI. Let me see your statistics that show your opinion is any more relevant. At least I have data to draw a conclusion from unlike you.

Right now, show me where I said I want to ban all firearms. Go ahead, I'll wait. Just put the post number or the link.

Now, if you want stats that support stricter gun regulations, or that more guns equal more violence, simply review the DOJ and Paraliment links posted earlier. In 8% of violent crime in the US firearms were used compared to 0.3% in the UK. The us has more guns, and thus more violence involving guns. Fact.

Yes, and I can show you a video of US citizens rambling on about how 9-11 and the CT school shooting was a conspiracy on behalf of our government. Doesn't mean you should base your entire stance on an issue from that.

I don't believe I ever said you wanted to ban all firearms. We also gave 6x the population of the UK. The end point is as gun ownership has grown since 2007, violent crime has decreased. That completely contradicts the point you are trying to make. We have a different culture than the UK or any other country you want to try and compare us to. I'll use the good old saying of apples and oranges you Libs are so fond of invoking when a Conservative makes a comparison. What I do know is this situation is like a court case. You want to prosecute the 2nd Amendment so you need to prove that your belief is correct. I don't have to provide any 'legal or logical' reason for doing what I'm doing as you keep asking for on the numerous other posts you're annoying the shit out of people on. I have the 2nd Amendment and the Supreme Court on my side. Until that changes, this is a case of mind over matter. I don't mind because your opinion does not matter.

Please, stop for your own sake, as it should be registering as very embarrassing for you. Can you not understand simple 3rd grade math and how percentages are expressed? I have tried to explain it to you at a child's level but you still cannot understand.

Take the UK for example, of all the crime 0.3% involved firearms. If the population tripled so would the crime rate. But still, of those crimes, 0.3% would involve firearms. The number that makes up that 0.3% would be larger with the larger population, but it would still be 0.3% of all crime. Please tell me you now understand this simple mathematical expression, for you own sake.

Oh yeah, there is a huge culture difference between the US and the UK. In general, they respect each other far more than we ever will and they understand there isn't a need in the world for mass produced military designed hardware in the hands of the general populous.

Yeah, nothing says your opinion doesn't matter louder than replying to the very opinion you said doesn't matter within mere minutes of hearing it.

If you want to dissect the 2nd amendment, tell me how you are a part of a "well regulated militia" and how your existence is necessary to the freedom of your state.

I do not have to be part of a well regulated militia to own a gun. That is the incorrect interpretation your Liberal mind sees. As supported by the Supreme Court, I as an individual have that right as well. Argue all you want but you will not win. Read Justice Alito Jr's opinion written in 2010 when the courts upheld the 2008 ruling and clarified it was the right of the individual and not restricted to military service.

Wait a minute, you were just beating your chest and ranting about your rights under the 2nd amendment. All I did was point out exactly what the 2nd amendment spells out. And you only see that interpretation as incorrect because it doesn't suit your agenda.

If you can preach it, you can follow it. So, what well regulated militia are you a part of that is necessary to maintain a free state?
