Hey! I need some help! We're moving to Cape from Edmond Oklahoma. I'm trying to find us (me and my husband) a nice place to live. We are open to an apartment of rental house. Anyone have any suggestions on apartments? rentals? anything?!?! let me know!

Look up SOTO property. They deal in a lot of property in Cape. Utilities will be much less in the neighboring town of Jackson - less than 8 miles away. It is also a nice community for a young couple with a lot of new duplex/condo construction.

There are a lot of very nice places suitable for a young couple in Cape. Look in the classifieds, www. semissourian.com . Hope that's helpful to you & good luck on your move.

You might want to also check the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce. They have a website that you can request a "relocation packet" that probably contains some information helpful to someone moving to Cape.

Might want to check the crime page on Southeast Missourian website and check out the areas that you DON'T want to live...

And for you nay sayers, don't let the door hit you on your way out.

Left?? Really?? Why can we still hear you ? I'm sure wherever you are - they're next man up for your needless bitching. Just go away really.

Yes. Left. Really. 2008. I explained my reasoning for visiting Topix in my post before this. Read that before whining.

Ya, you left four years ago but still feel that you need to participate in our forum....

Who's pathetic now?

Either you like Cape, or you go away. Your choice.

As for the new family moving in, Welcome! We may not have everything you want,we have most everything a family/couple needs. Don't pay attention to the nay sayers.

So we don't have the biggest mall or a Chuck e Cheese (YUCK), but we don't have rush-hour & commute time or crime like some of the larger areas like StL or Memphis.

It's actually a good place to make a home and raise a family.

LOL! I never bitched and moaned about it. Someone said they were moving there and I said "my condolences." I never said I "hated" Cape, but to be honest, if I had to choose whether to move there, or move somewhere else, I'd probably move somewhere else. That does not equal hate, that equals I don't have a desire to live here. I come to Topix because some of the threads are quite entertaining, and if I happen to see someone starting a thread about someone I know, I'll probably let them know about it. I didn't realize I didn't have that right. I do apologize, princess.
I'm sorry that you feel such a need to go on the attack when I made a joke. Perhaps you should see about purchasing a sense of humor, they are quite an investment to have, and it's better than walking around with a stick up your ass. Take your anger at your pitiful existence out on yourself, sunshine. Grow up while you're at it.
OK, think that. It's not a stick, though.

Actually, I don't have to like Cape to stay here and post. Thanks for your concern, sweetheart, but when I give two damns about your opinion, I'll be sure to let you know, mkay?:)

I left Las Vegas for Cape in 2009 after living there for 13 years, but I still read and comment on their topix thread. Does that make me pathetic too?

I don't think you are. I continue to keep up with Cape because I was born and raised there. There are a lot of people there that I care about. That's why I keep up with KFVS12, the Southeast Missourian, and the Cape thread of Topix. I keep an eye on Tacoma's Topix, and I keep up with King5 news and Tacoma News Tribune. Once you've lived somewhere, you tend, in some cases, to remain curious about stuff that happens there. I imagine if you were born and raised in Vegas, or stayed there for a certain amount of time, you'd still keep an eye on it, which is understandable.

Welcome Kelly, all cities and towns have a bad side and we are no different. It just depends on what you can afford that will dictate what part of town you will end up in. Do stay away from the south side (by the bridge going in to Illinois) and the above areas mentioned around Themis/Boxwood on the west side, like it or not they are high crime areas. Some of the smaller towns have less crime rate and much cheaper rent. Jackson is growing by leaps and bounds, but so is their crime rate. If you don't mind a short commute (10-20 minutes straight up I-55) look in the Scott City or Benton area, they are small towns with beautiful homes for rent or sale. Southwest is the little town of Delta or Advance, another 20-30 minute drive but peaceful areas in our farming communities. Look west of Jackson if you want some place with land. Going north of Cape there is the Fruitland area, but rent is higher due to P&G being out that way. Beautiful small towns north of Fruitland like Pocahontas, Altenberg with awesome German heritage, even Perryville which is a 30 minute drive down I-55. Good luck with your house hunting and welcome to our growing little town on the river.
