I had a gentleman recently offer me the opportunity to join the Freemasons. He was very friendly and polite. I listened to what he had to say and it sounded like something I would be interested in joining until he told me they don't allow blacks to join, then I respectfully and politely declined. When he asked why, I told him I couldnt be a part of anything that was prejudice of someone because of their skin color. I asked why blacks were not allowed, he said why should they? I replied why shouldn't they, they're human just like you and I. He walked away. Now I don't know much about the Freemasons or their rules for joining, but that is what this gentleman told me, I don't know if it was just his chapters rules or what. He was from the cape girardeau area chapter.

I call bull$hit!! The Freemasons are not and have never been a whites only organization!! They were founded and still run on principals of equality for ALL.
Someone was just blowing smoke up your a$$!!
Do a little research on it. There have been many famous an influential black men among the Freemasons. Thurgood Marshall, john h Johnson (publisher of ebony and jet magazines), lawrence d wilder (first black us governor and mayor of Richmond va), even Scotty pippin who played for the Chicago bulls, and a huge laundry list of others!!!

Your so full of s**t you smell like it! I am a Mason and Blacks are allowed Freemasons. There are none here in Whitewater but we will never turn away a person who is black if he wants in. in Sikeston and Charleston there are many. You probably asked a Mason if there are any blacks he said no and just fed the fire your looking to start. Mind your own business and if you are looking for attention just play with yourself.

In the military where I was overseas, the White lodge had to meet off base because they wouldn't allow African Americans to join. The Black lodge met on base because we didn't care about the skin color, or religion of the person.

It was really strange everyday to know that the ChiefMaster Sgt was my supervisors supervisors, but we didn't talk about Masonry anywhere. I even went to his home for parties, knew his wife well. His grown daughter still corresponds with me on Facebook, but they wouldn't integrate their lodge. Brotha Michael Monti was our worshipful master in our lodge and he was White. He chose deliberately, as you did to stay away from the lodge that was discriminating. Go talk to that Super sharp Black insurance fellow
just North of the post office. He is the head honcho of his lodge here in Cape and he is looking for good men like you. Seek and ye shall find. Ask and the door shall be opened unto you.:-)

I'm fairly sure that the White lodges in Cape do discriminate even though what they are learning is the true history of the Black man and Black woman on Earth.

Hi "Guest,"
FYI there are many great black Masons. Many are part of Prince Hall Lodges, but there are many integrated Lodges around the world. In my Lodge we have a mixed bag of races that are mostly close to representative of our community's demographics. We'd actually like to see more black Brothers, but perhaps some of them are under the same misconception that you are and therefore have not asked.
That's another thing, we don't recruit and ask people to join. We wait for interested good men to come to us. And yes "Curious", you need to believe in a Supreme Being.
And "Serious," I'm a Master Mason (the "highest level") and I firmly believe in God. Further, all of the other Brothers I know profess belief in GOd as well. Our understanding of "God" may vary from person to person, but faith in a Supreme Being is one of our most sacred tenets.
Congrats on the curiosity!

Socket,
Some lodges that might be so, yet unfortunate.
In my lodge here in Connecticut. You must be a man, of lawful age, believe in a Supreme Being, Believe in a life hereafter. Additionally, in my lodge you must make an effort to want to join the lodge by participating in various events and socials as well as be interviewed by a team of Masons who meet with you and you spouse at your home.
Only after all that, the committee might or might not recommend you. If yes, then finally your petition is read in front of the whole lodge, the recommendations committee who interviewed them will speak, then anyone else can speak either for or against.
Lastly, we take a secret vote. It MUST be unanimous with no, "no" votes.
Then you take your first degree, do all the studying and work on that degree after which you will be tested in front of the lodge as well as Past Masters. You will do that again for your second degree and even after your third degree. Afterwhich you then can receive you membership card.
In my lodge it will take a good year to "knock on our door" to the time you become a Master Mason. Many times longer.
Unfortunately, some lodges don't take the same time, effort or care in must of the preliminary work or education work. Those brothers end up leaving soon after getting their 3rd degree. Unfortunately they know little to nothing about how great freemasonry is.

One more thing.

In our lodge we have brothers of various races, colors and creeds. Our age group is from 25 to 75 with most around 40.

In CT. most of our lodges are inter-racial however, there are some lodges that exist based upon nationality or culture. They always welcome another brother in lodge no matter what demographic they come from.
A Brother Mason is a BROTHER and a Mason.

I have a black friend and he is a mason in Malden area. He is also Christian. I was trying to get him to explain some of the "illuminati" connections but he was pretty secretive so the subject was changed, lol
