my grandchildren sometimes eat at 10;;00 p.m. on school nights, roam the neighborhoods (age)7 , no supervision, exposed to parent parties every weekend.the height of dysfunction,Also being critized in school for not studying and having homework, when the teacher was told by my grandchild ,that he has NO guidance or assistance, she punishes him daily on time our and belives he makes it up, he is and has shown signs of depression, when d.c.f.(state is involved), they said that if they have a bed and a meal theres no neglece, so now this is where I come in .Oh but when I talked to the parents they say go *&&%&$! yourself, and to make it even worse NOW we are now not allowed to see the children,Did I mention we practially raised the child. But had no legal rights, they consider us a dumping ground, WE considered It a blessing,Gave Respect, Love ,stability , help, hugs, ect. But when they are home 8 nights to visit their Parents,by the way the house is filthy, there was not even a sheet on a bed for the child to sleep,My nerves were shot,I spoke up for the childs rights........havent seen them now for 2 months, I purchased a cell phone so I may have communication,I pay the bill, that was also taken from the child!!!so folks here it goes//children are rendered helpless, grandparents have no rights in the state of fl. Unfortunately, "grandparent's rights" are not Constitutional; courts grant visitation or custody to grandparents only when certain conditions provided in the state statutes are met.
To determine your state's statutes you can either do a lot of research, or simply see an attorney.

I am in the same situation except I haven't said anything yet so the children aren't whisked away. Others don't understand why I take care of them like I do. It's because they are the most important thing here. They need love and protection. And as long as I can, I will provide it. We need rights in Florida. We have none. But we have the children. We need the rights to protect what we already have. Someone out there must be able to help.

My grandsons mother took him from all his family in Alabama were he was born and raised, the only family and life he ever new, she took him 500 miles away to Tampa, Fl. We had practically raised him because of the doemestic abuse between the parents and acohol abuse. He was very neglected and us along with his only blood aunt gave him the only stabilty he new. Although my son, his dad is still here there is no changes and I have heard enough to know nothing has changed for his mother either. He is being subjected now to men she meets on the internet. All he has there is a grandmother that works, and when her daughter lived at home, she had to have her locked up for violance. My son and daughter-in-law were under investigation by the state of Al. when she left. When I contacted them to let them know she had left I was told will it was out of their hands and if I was worried I could call Fl. and let them know and I was not the one that called and reported them there were 3 differant times and one was the police that turned them in. Someones got to do something.

The Florida Supreme Court ought to be ousted for NOT supporting Grandparent's rights. And the state wonders what is wrong with the system! They leave children in dangerous and unknown situations. This would explain why there is so much child abuse and death in the state of Florida. Most Grandparents are the primary care givers for these children. They are the only family the children has and they are ripped apart.

I think grandparents right have gone too far.Every parent should have the right to choose the associations their children are expsed to.Has any one ever thought that maybe, the parents of the kids might of been abused by the granparents as children themselves,& don't want or like their child around someone like that. Also, remember that there is no perfect parent out here,& that MOST of us are doing the best we can to be the parent that we should.Every grandparent was once a young parent themselvs,& should not forget that, while constantly pointing the finger at their adult childs parenting skills

I think grandparents know adays are a little unfulfilled with their life that they have nothing better to do than metle in the lifes of their adult children ,who are are trying to make a family unit of their own.Shame on granparents who are so overbarring that are forcing themselves on others.I think grandparens need to have some dam respect for the wishes & boundaries their adult children. What if the roles were reversed?

Even though there are some circumstances in which it would be necessary for the "grandparents" to step into thier childrens lives to help with the needs of the granchildren, I do not believe it is a good idea to request that our government be put in a position to hand over these rights to each and every grandparent in the state of Florida! For every good reason there may be for this re-enactment there are just as many reasons that this will never be a good idea. We do not need the government controlling who are children are to have a relationship with. This seems perposturus to me. The parents are the children of these "grandparents", whether these "grandparents" have just awakened to the reality they have created for their children or are complete hypocrits. They created the very lives their children are living. It will take more than some law to fix this issue. Come on, lets take some resposibility for ourselves and the lives we create. The government can not "bail" us out of everything!

We raised our children to be good, honest upstanding people. We were always there for our son. He was never hit or abused. We put him through college where he graduated debt free. We gave him $150,000 as a down payment on a house. He married a woman who hated us. I have never said an unkind word to her. She has decided that her husband and her children will never see us again. She is a borderline personality with severe depression. I have no idea why my son goes along with this plan. I have seen my 3 year old grandson 3 times since he is born and my one year old grand-daughter once. They live several hours from us. We have two other children and one other grandchild and one on the way. We have a close and loving relationship with all of them. We travel together, celebrate holidays and enjoy each others company. I have a Phd in education and have owned and directed nursery schools for the past 30 years. I have won many awards for my schools and probably had 25,000 children go through them. I raise a great deal of money for Habitat for Humanity and am involved with children and families in many different capacities. I can't believe that my grandchildren are being deprived of me and me of them. We have both lost. The only one who won is the crazy lady and my son who are protecting their children from some ficticious perceived evil

Anf this is the same thing with us and many Great
grandparents , I really wish the State would enforce Grandparents visitation. After all good loving grandparents can play a role in the childs future,God created us to leave footprints on their heart! Shame on these selfish women. And I often wonder about Karma , will their child do this to them one day ?
