McCombs lights

United States

#1 May 8, 2011
There are two traffic lights on McCombs after you curve left from Railroad (Wren and Sanders for example) that for no obvious reason, stop traffic. As one will turn green, you approach the next, it will turn red. Keep in mind there is no other traffic in the intersection to cause this to happen.

This happens on Railroad as well - as busy as it gets in the rush hour mornings, the traffic lights at Hercules and Diana will turn red for no reason at all, causing serious traffic problems, considering all the new houses now in the area that travel this bumpy road.

I hope this new system fixes this. But I will only believe it when I see it. By the way, how much is this new system going to cost us homeowners (since homeowners get hit for everything else, I try not to use the word taxpayers anymore)? The reason I ask is that gasoline is so expensive now, and to cause a red light for no reason (timed, whatever) costs everyone that is stalled for that time period. Yes, time is money, and wasting gas at a light for no reason is beaurocracy at its finest.

I heard a story that some businesses pay to cause red lights in the direction of their stores (suppposedly) to get more customers to 'stop and smell the roses'. For me, any area that causes me problems like that I avoid as best I can.

If you happen to notice problems with traffic lights malfunctioning, please bring it to the attention of the city, the county, the state, and your elected officials. Make it known to all, if for no other reason, to send a message to corrupt politicians and government employees not to tinker with our roads. Roads that were payed for by taxpayer dollars.
