Review: Starboard Marine Repair LTD

If I could have given them a no star I would have. I have had multiple boats into Starboard in 2008 and have found them to be a bad place to have work done. I spent over $15000.00 having a boat reupholstered and another re gelcoated. The upholstered boat had seen one year of very light use and has been covered but the carpet is comming up and the trim is letting loose, also they ran screws through the doors to attach the upholstery in a very amaturish fashion. The re gel coated boat upon inspection did not have all the requested work done, I took it back and was rebilled for the same work. After I got it back the second time it still had not been done. I highly reccommend you find another shop as this one is sketchy to say the least.

My boat is 20 years old and still looks great! That takes a bunch of TLC. However, mechanical systems require more than spit and polish and that's where Starboard really shines! I've entrusted my boat's maintenance and repair to them ever since they opened for business and I couldn't be more satisfied. Since I boat on Erie, reliability is essential. The Starboard crew has uncovered and fixed problems that could have been a serious and unsafe shut-down out on the lake. I've trusted them for electrical, engine and drive repairs, as well as for several cosmetic renovations. I feel they're very dedicated and concerned for my boating pleasure and safety. I'd give them 5 stars!

First class job on a transom rebuild, tune up, and other mechanical work.
Work was done in a very timely manner and I was kept informed of my options every step of the way. I will definitely be a repeat customer. 5 stars

Matt and Starboard Marine saved our summer! We took our boat to Starboard Marine on a Saturday morning after the failure of a cooling water pump and extensive heat damage. Matt had to lift the motor and replace various hoses, wire harnesses, etc. to repair the damage. This work was completed within the same week and we picked it up the following Saturday. As part of that work he also provided more clearance from the heat producing areas for the hoses and harnesses. He also added a temperature alarm that activates the boat's horn as an early warning for a temperature upset. The work was done in a highly professional manner at a reasonable cost. I will use Starboard Marine for all my preventive maintenance and winterization needs to eliminate any future major damage. 5 stars to Starboard Marine!

I've had multiple experiences with Starboard Marine and agree with the 5 star rating. They did a great job on bellows replacements, bottom paint (especially the attention to detail), and many winterizations. They are thorough and when they find anything of concern with your boat, you will get a full detailed description of the problem, potential effects, and options for addressing it. No pressure sales either!

Our cabin cruiser is our pride and joy. We wouldn't trust anybody else except Matt at Starboard Marine, whom we have dealt with for more than 5 years. He has performed excellent maintenance, engine repair, engine replacement, propeller tuning, biminy and cabin canvas work, hull painting and upholstery, not to exclude winterization each year. All of the above services were done well above expectations and brought many, many comments from other boaters, of the excellent workmanship, and we'll continue with Matt at Starboard Marine for many years to come.

work is ok, not great, not horrible. A little over priced..But he has the personality of a 2x4.

i had my boat at matt's shop for motor problems.it left his shop with the same problems and some deep gouges.the reason i pulled the boat out was his prices and options to fix the motor problems.upon questioning matt on this he became REAL sketchy so i opted to settle up and get my boat out.well after getting home i discovered the gouges.matt wanted me to bring the boat back up then he would determine if the damages occured there and if he would fix them.i was not going to take the boat back because of the sketchyness i encountered with him.i sent him pictures with no response in return except through the bbb.he responded through the bbb by calling it dock rash well thats bs because the boat was just purchased by me and looked over with no signs of these gouges. it was only on water once where it had to be towed in and not docked.boat was repaired cheaper at another shop and matt's motor diagnosis was wrong.i advise you do not use this shop i'm glad i got away without spending the senseless money matt wanted!!

I have been taking my boats to Star Board Marine for several years. They have always done an outstanding job for a great price. I just returned home with my 31' Sea Ray. Once again, more than I can ask for.

Matt has been servcing my two boats for seeral years now and always does a great job. I am amazed how quickly the repairs are done and done right. i wouldn't go anwhere else.

I question the validity of this review. I'm guessing there is more to the story. This does NOT sound like Matt Fockler. This guy has an axe to grind, methinks.

after having my boat at the new shop this spring I discovered more to my complaint. The new shop employes an ex worker of matts and he recognized my boat and new how the damage happened the new shop repaired the damage at no charge. Had them do some other repairs and owner felt bad for what his new employee told him what happened to me. Great place and a pleasant surprise upon picking up my boat. Everything I stated is true and valid

This winter Matt and crew totally rehabbed my 30 yr. old Highlander sailboat. I have raced it extensively for over 25 yrs. and it was in poor condition. They re-cored it, refinished the interior and the exterior. It is now better than new. Anyone wanting to verify my comments or see the boat call Starboard Marine to connect with me. I'm extremely happy with the work they did.
