I agree....all you hear is how great things are and what $$$ it brings to Carroll County, blah, blah, blah....what about the things you can't put a price tag on that have been lost and probably never will be here again- 1) tranquility, 2) quiet, less travelled roads, 3) beautiful landscape, 4)country grace and charm and relaxed way of life....now we've been invaded by trucks, trucks, and more trucks, roughnecks and out-of-towners, congested highways that are plain outright dangerous with oversized, overloaded, and frequently left-of-center trucks (why is Highway Patrol not doing more in this regard??)...and they call it progress and a good thing???!!! In any event, God bless you and I hope things improve in your neck of the woods.

I hate the oil and gas companies! I hate how every business in the area has been catering to this select group! What about the citizens that were here before all of this? You know the ones that came in weekly to support your mom and pop store instead of driving to Canton? All I see around me is greed. I have stood by and watched as housing gone up, gouging prices at local businesses. You do realize that when this is over, it will be the local people left. the people will remember who you are and your business will no longer be. The citizens of this town are watching very carefully the changes that are taking place and not everyone agrees with it.

Greed... the deadliest sin! Our roads and children are not safe. We too live on a county road and these truckers and workers literally fly on our road! Money will never replace a lost loved one!

I agree with all of the above comments and I commend Kathryn for writing her letter and saying what so many of us are thinking, and unfortunately can't do anything about. Oh what a terrible price our beautiful Carroll County is paying so that a handful of people can get rich! The landscape is being destroyed and will never be the same, not in our lifetime anyway. The oil and gas people care only about themselves and no one else. When will the citizens of Carroll County wake up and realize this?

Same could happen with a milk truck. Lets get rid of the dairy farmers, right?

How many milk trucks have caused accidents in this county? Even when dairy farming was full bore in this county hardly ever did you hear of a milk truck being involved in accidents like we are with the oil and gas trucks. Our mailbox has been destroyed by these trucks many many times. After 2 years of putting up with this one honest driver must have reported that he demolished our mailbox and a very nice man from the gas and oil company came and paid to have it replaced. We had them go the cheap route, why pay for a nice mailbox and then have it destroyed again. Not everyone that lives in this county is only concerned with lining their pockets. If all you care about is money, than I'm very happy for you. I personally have seen families and neighbors torn apart by the greed, jealousy, envy. People with money now are no better people than they were before they got all their money. I'd like to know how many of them have made big donations to their churches, to the schools that all their children attended, or to any of the other wonderful things in this county that they have enjoyed and been a part of? What have they personally done to make Carroll County a better place to live? Understand that I'm not speaking of all, only of what I have seen with my own two eyes. All I have heard is complaints about how much of their big checks they had to pay in taxes. We are all entitled to our own opinions. Best not to judge until you walk in another's shoes.

Just because you dont hear about it doesn't mean it dosn't happen. How about Rodney Paige being run off the road by a milk truck not to long ago. See it does happen.

Like someone said, "Best not to judge until you walk in the other's shoes."

Have you experienced the things Ms. King has spoken of? If so, then feel free to offer her some of your own advice on how to deal with it. Just saying that if you are not dealing with what she is it's rather unfair to judge her. And I'm pretty confident that there has been many more accidents involving the oil and gas trucks than there has ever been with any milk trucks.

Yeh, because there are more oil and gas trucks. Law of averages.
