<snip> CANDLER Fourteen people living in a house escaped unharmed after the structure caught fire early this morning, authorities said. <snip> A single family home with 14 people living in it? wtf. That's why Candler need's zoning and density regulations, and immigration reform to prohibit it from being a sanctuary city.

The house is so big because not so long ago it was a bar. I am not sure what renovations were done to it other than vinyl siding.

It's extremely sad when people have nothing better to do than come here and make fun of someone losing their home.

Migrants. They likely were here legally. Next time, we'll leave the lights on.

Brown, Black, Red, Yellow or White. This is 2010, in the USA and far as I know it isn't against the law for "BROWN" people to live in Candler! They have driver's licenses legal to work here and segregation ended over 40 years ago! Are you that ignorant to think that segregation is still legal and morally okay?

Agreed, color is irrelevant.
Illegals regardless of color, is very relevant.
It's very telling that Holder sues Arizona for their immigration law that mirrors the federal law while zero's policy is to refuse border enforcement using US immigration law.
It's using millions of taxpayer dollars to prevent enforcement of law already on the books, and it endangers citizens of this country. Phoenix has become the #2 kidnapping capital.
Why doesn't the administration prosecute sanctuary cities for refusal to comply with existing law? Why don't they cut of their funding? Instead they prosecute those who attempt to enforce what the federales refuse to do. It is sickening.

Regarding drivers licenses, it was NC policy for years to issue to aliens and it made NC a prime destination for illegals. Former state auditor Leslie Merritt issued a report stating around 2 million had been issued with duplicate or false SS numbers, or they simply used tax id numbers.

If government refuses to enforce federal law, engaging in selective enforcement why bother. Isn't border enforcement a function of protecting citizens?

It is ridiculous to claim a war on terror or a war on drugs to protect citizens while allowing porous borders. You can't have it both ways; claiming any high ground is pure hypocrisy.
Both political parties have engaged in these lies. Fat Ted Kennedy and RINO McCain along with Miss Lindsey Graham pushed "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" aka amnesty in collusion with democrats. The republicans claim to have gotten religion, but I'll never trust a RINO.

Before there's any dicussion of reform, they must enforce laws on the books and get control of the border. Add workplace enforcement to that list. There is also no need to go tinkering with the Constitution in light of the 14th Amendment's stated purpose.
Justice Brennan got that one wrong, using a footnote from some guy who wrote a book in 1913 who wasn't even a lawyer.

There's no way any change would be ratified by 2/3 of the states because no one trusts the current crop of morons in DC enough. No telling what else they would screw with "while they're at it."

Enforce the laws on the books, then we can talk about it.

Excellent post..I do agree with you we need to enforce the laws on the books, then discuss other solutions. I'm not against immigration, I think we should follow the law.

When we talk about illegals not being able to obtain a licenses it is very scary...they are in our country illegal, they are going to drive a car,(no insurance, no inspection) and numerous other problems. When we did allow them a driver's license they did have to have insurance, etc. If you will look around when you drive down the road, most have tags from other states. They have gone to that state purchased a car and returned to NC.

I'm certain your post and stated made by myself will bring out the normal individuals who post very negative about any and everything.
Still tryin gto figured out what made me go to Topix today...
