Please wait...
First and foremost, I am so very sorry for this family. This is tragic. May God be with them all. Secondly - if anyone saw the story on News13 last night at 11, shame on them. There was footage there which showed family members, one lady whom was not interviewed, but cameras caught her twice in extreme moments of grief, on outside the house, and one at a vehicle where she couldn't even stand on her own two feet. I normally love WLOS, but this particular filming was a sad mistake to broadcast!!!

They were just doing their job. Sometimes the public needs to see images and sound like that to hit home the enormity of this tragedy.

The police had not wanted to give the identities yet and WLOS did everything but give names. Highly intrusive. Even my husband stated that they went too far and I'm usually the first to be disgusted when they pull this. They told the store the girls were at every morning. The school. It didn't take any rocket scientist. They do it every year at Thanksgiving and Christmas too. They show all the poor children receiving help so that these kids can't even show their faces at school the next day. I don't buy the "just doing their job" stuff. We all know how tragic a house fire that kills 3 people is. We all know that the poor need our help every day. Even more concerning is that half the time they are reporting this stuff, they are either smiling or showing some other sign they they have been desensitized. Then, it's right on into the next bit of news. Hurry up now, you have 50 commercials you have to squeeze in too!

After watching the story I am disgusted. WLOS should be ashamed that they showed that woman crying. The same lady was arrested later in the day for assaulting another news crew. It's a shame news people can't respect people suffering a tragic loss just so they can get video.

After watching news 13 at 11 last night, the video clippings they showed was so disrespectful to the family. That was their time to grief for their mother. The news had no business showing her daughter when she was in her stage of grief and then getting arrested for being angry at the camara man while she was griefing over her mother. Personal I dont blame the girl for assaulting the news crew. I dont think anyone needed to see the clipping, I think news 13 should be punished for showing the clipping. My thoughts and prayer are with the family.

The news crews only care about the ratings. To add insult to injury, on the online news clip, they showed the wrong school, and also emphasized the fact that arson had not been ruled out. But yet they could not release their names and just added to the grief and confusion in the community. My heart goes out to the family of the victims and I pray they find peace.

Their job being sensationalists and insensitive news reporters? Although there is a need to report pertinent news, no one needs to see images of grieving family and friends at their expense.

if you don't like the news...don't watch it...and don't buy the products advertised on it...They will change.
The only reason the news shows footage like that...and is disrespectful enough to get it...is that people watch and then buy the products. Period.

Dottie and the girls were very well loved! It doesn't matter what the situation. It doesn't make the pain any easier for us. The sooner the media steps back it will help. Yes, our family needs all the prayers they can get. However, please pray for the media as well they need them too. Thank you to all who are praying for us.

Please know that our prayers are with you and that my daughter prays for you all including 6 year old every night. I leave her name off out of respect. Nothing I can say can make things any easier I wish I could. My daughter was in class with 6 year old and she will be greatly missed. This is a very caring community and I hope that the media will back off you. They could tackfully report a story without getting in the face of someone hurt and grieving! However this isn't the first time they have been distastefull! And as sad as it is it won't be the last. May you all find peace and comfort somehow as I know the pain will always be there just a little less noticable after time!

My heart is so full of sadness since Thursday morning. ALL will be missed by my family every day. The girls came here in the mornings until Dottie could figure out a better schedule. That was the way she was always looking for a better way for the girls. I am most thankful that I was able to see how caring Dottie was.
