A "reduced fat" blueberry muffin still has too much sugar, and won't keep you full as long. May as well not even bother. Want healthy? Stay out of DD, eat fruit and vegetables, dump white bread and eat whole grain only, dump white rice and eat brown rice, dump the sweets. If only I had the will power to follow my own advice :(

What, I should adopt healthy, long-term eating habits? Right On! Dump sugar drinks too, dump putting salt on EVERYTHING, dumnp the ad-hoc fast-food mentality and start planning your dining habits.

I love how all these fast-food places get free advertising in the form of "articles" in the trib. Seriously editors, this is news?

Does Dunkin Donuts pay for a lot of ads in this paper or something? This isn't news. It's an advertisement. I guess DD got a freebie.

DD is pretty slow to get into offering a "healthy" option on their menu. But really....9 grams of fat is not what I would consider a healthy proportion for a sandwich. Is a multi-grain bagel really that much healthier than a plain? Or does it just make the consumer feel more pious? And I'm sure that low-fat muffin is going to be super satisfying.
Just don't mess with the coffee, I beg of you.

I eat healthier on my own by preparing as many meals I eat as possible. I don't go to fast food joints for "healthy(er)" food ...

Yes the Bagels are down right disgusting but I can't go without my morning cup of French Vanilla.

Sorry - I don't go to DD to get healthy food. I go for donuts and coffee. Thats it. If I want a banana I'll bring one from home.

Oh great! More things to slow down the line for those of us going only for coffee.

When I first graduated from College (many, many, many years ago), I had to get a job downtown. I lived about a mile away from the end of the line of the el train (Oak Park area). There was a Dunkin Donuts bakery shop right across the street. It is still there.

I would depart from the train station, call my mother from one of their pay phones (I'm talking ancient times for all of you cell phone users), walk across the street to the DD, purchase 1/2 dozen Bavarian Creme Donuts (with that yummy cream filling), walk back across the street stuffing them in my mouth. By the time my mom came to pick me up I always had one or two left and I'd offer her one.

Since I never got the job I really wanted, I felt completely rejected whenever I came back to my parent's house. I will always look upon that specific Dunkin Donuts with much familiarity. It and I shared a mutual bond of providing and eating.

I finally got a job I did not want downtown but it paid the bills. So, for one full year, I did this. I haven't had one of those Bavarian Cream Donuts since that time. But I'll never forget that yummy cream filling.

So...what does this have to do with a healthier menu? Nothing. Just thought I'd share a memory for any one to read.

Egg whites and veggies at Dunkin'?

Please.

I suspect this will go nowhere with the majority of Dunkin' Donut's demographic. Various healthy fare such as "lite" hamburgers were tried years ago by other brands-- and failed.

Still, Dunkin' deserves credit for trying!

I go to DD for their donuts and their coffee. Maybe a bagel or something else if I've come across a coupon somewhere.

If I want healthy food, I'll prepare something at home. People don't go to DD for healthy food.

DD, don't mess up a good thing!

Managers love to 'manage', and if they aren't trying to change something, they feel they aren't doing their job, or maybe they think they won't have a job if they aren't 'doing something'.

The pointy-haired boss in Dilbert is our best example.

If it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it.

Nothing is healthy in any restaurant whose ingredients contain high fructose cornsyrup or crystalline cornsyrup. HFCS is just not healthy. Anyone overweight and have stomach ailments? Well stop eating HFCS and see how much better you feel. We don't need corn with every meal! Especially corn with fungus, bacteria enzymes and arsenic in it. Have a nice flat with egg whites made with poison. No thanks. Try again!
