Remember the band of thieves stealing weathervanes from buildings years ago. Maybe they have been released from prison.

What a bizarre and inappropriate ending to this report. Of what significance is the opinion of the liquor store owner that he thought the sign was worthless? Does that justify the theft? Would he feel the same way if the sign were stolen from his store? George Fillmore was an honest, reputable and valuable asset to Canton for decades, and even if the sign had no intrinsic value, the theft is a shameful crime.

George and Family,
I'm so sorry that someone stole your sign. You're both two of the nicest neighbors that we've ever had. I know you've been through a lot with your illnesses, and we hope that you're feeling better. I truly hope that your sign is recovered. We miss you!

that is an awesome ending, who cares about a sign for a company that has been out of business for over a year. If it meant so much to them why didn't they remove it right away for safe keeping? tough nuggets

So the thieves stole a big, big sign on ridiculously busy Route 44 and no one saw it? Not even our overly staffed local police department? Maybe we don't need more officers, just more observant ones.
