"There has not been any tendency, at least at this stage of the race, for the contest to break toward the challenging candidate.

Instead, it's actually the incumbent-party candidate who has gained ground on average since 1936.

On average, the incumbent candidate added 4.6 percentage points between the late September polls and his actual Election Day result, whereas the challenger gained 2.5 percentage points."

Obama: ATMs Contribute To Unemployment For Eliminating Tellers

"The other thing that happened though, this goes to the point you were just making, is there are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers," President Obama said about unemployment in an interview with NBC's Ann Curry.

Obama claims ATMs and kiosks at airports have eliminated some jobs.

"If you see it when you go to a bank you use the ATM, you don't go to a bank teller. Or you go to the airport and you use a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate," he said.

Unemployment rates rose in 44 US states in July

WASHINGTON — Unemployment rates rose in 44 U.S. states in July, the most states to show a monthly increase in more than three years and a reflection of weak hiring nationwide.

The Labor Department said Friday that unemployment rates fell in only two states and were unchanged in four.

Before Obama was even inaugurated, the GOP decided that their plan for winning 2012 was preventing anything from getting done in DC and then blaming the President for it.

Anybody who blames Obama for gridlock in Washington and the continued weak economy just needs to STFU.

..........

The One Hundred Tenth United States Congress

was the meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, between January 3, 2007, and January 3, 2009, during the last two years of the second term of President George W. Bush.

It was composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The apportionment of seats in the House was based on the 2000 U.S. census.

The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

Although the Democrats held fewer than 50 Senate seats, they had an operational majority because the two independent senators caucused with the Democrats for organizational purposes.

And then

.The One Hundred Eleventh United States Congress

was the meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government from January 3, 2009, until January 3, 2011.

It began during the last two weeks of the George W. Bush administration, with the remainder spanning the first two years of Barack Obama's presidency.

It was composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The apportionment of seats in the House was based on the 2000 U.S. Census.

In the November 4, 2008 elections, the Democratic Party increased its majorities in both chambers.

Obama:‘As president I bear responsibility for everything, to some degree’
In an interview with CBS News’ Steve Kroft on “60 Minutes” Sunday night, President Obama accepted responsibility for “everything” that has happened under his watch — at least to a “degree.”
Let see how this might play elsewhere in history.
"We shall never surrender," Churchill said, "to some degree."
Or: "Tear down this wall," Reagan demanded, "to some degree."
Or possibly: "I'm the decider," George W. Bush said, "to some degree."
Or how about another formulation: "We shall return!" General MacArthur declared, "perhaps." Some how these statements no longer sound as strong.

And what a bad "DECIDER" he was too.

Politically Liberal, a guilt-ridden-whiney-assed-bed wetter is often beyond liberal and nearly to the point of irrationality.

Typically the guilt-ridden-whiney-assed-bed wetter believes that a free ride can be provided to everyone, regardless of their motivation to work, create, innovate or to even wipe their own ass without help from the government.
Oh , by all means, lets just give them soda and twinkles that way the garbage cans won't fill up. If the kids want that then bring it from home, if you want school lunch then eat what's given or be hungry

It'd be like the mile-high club for Seamus, with the added benefit of asphyxiation induced by the low oxygen levels at cruising altitude -- assuming that you manage to avoid having the plane rip apart due to the sudden loss of cabin pressure."

Mitt Romney talks with 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley in Boston. I didn’t learn anything about either Mitt Romney watching their dueling appearances last night on 60 Minutes. But now I know for sure why Mr. Romney avoids getting into specifics–on his tax policies, his spending priorities, his foreign policy and so on. When he does get specific, he doesn’t make much sense.

On TV last night, he said he would cut everyone’s tax rates by 20 percent, including really rich people like him who are already paying too little. Simultaneously, he would limit deductions and exemptions,“particularly for people at the high end,” while “eliminating the tax for middle-income families on interest, dividends, and capital gains.”

As a result of this shakeup, while rates would go down everyone would pay roughly the same in taxes each year, except middle-income people who “will probably see a little break, because there’ll be no tax on their savings.”

The Romney campaign asserts that his plan will not add to the deficit, because of the above-mentioned limits on deductions and exemptions. What are those deductions and exemptions, exactly? How will they affect “people at the high end” more than in the middle? Mr. Romney would only say “that’s something Congress and I will have to work out together.”

The Tax Policy Center has already looked at Mr. Romney’s proposals and called them “not mathematically possible.” The Center concluded that despite Mr. Romney’s assurances to the contrary, his plan would result in tax increases for middle-income earners.

But it doesn’t take a PhD in economics to see that there’s something fishy here. If a President Romney fiddles with taxes on capital gains, people with robust stock portfolios will benefit immensely, while Americans who live off their salaries will not. Eliminating taxes on interest will only result in a substantial break for those with substantial income from interest.

Moving on, the 60 Minutes interviewer, Scott Pelley stated that Mr. Romney “paid fourteen percent in federal taxes,” the capital gains rate, and asked “is that fair to the guy who makes fifty thousand dollars and paid a higher rate than you did?”

Mr. Romney answered “Yeah I think it’s the right way to encourage economic growth, to get people to invest, to start business, to put people to work.”

Mr. Romney was even less coherent on foreign policy than he was on domestic issues. One particularly hilarious moment came when he criticized Mr. Obama for failing to close the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. It’s true that Mr. Obama botched the debate over the camp, but it was Republicans in Congress who pushed a law against transferring prisoners from Guantanamo to the United States.

And Mr. Romney does not actually favor closing the camp.

He tried valiantly to find some disagreement with Mr. Obama on Afghanistan, but ended up fumbling around. He said he agrees that most American combat forces should be out of Afghanistan by the end of 2014. But he said it’s a bad idea to say when you plan to withdraw troops. Obama timeline bad. Romney timeline good.

He said the troops sent in for the surge should not be coming out until November, rather than September. He tried to sound military-savvy by saying,“I don’t think you try and bring back troops during the fighting season.” But does he really think two more months would make a difference??????????

At least Mr. Romney had a succinct, clear answer to the question “What’s your big idea?” He responded:“Freedom. I want to restore the kind of freedom that has always driven America’s economy. And that’s allowed us to be the shining city on the hill.”

His Big Idea is freedom. And quoting Ronald Reagan

The whole interview was laughable.....
