Absolutely ridiculous! The publi, which is made up of parents, educators, and general family members of students have voice their opinion and concerns over and over again on this issue; yet they were not heard. The board has said that they want our opinions and thoughts, but then they do the opposite? Peterson, Wheaton, Schwartz- you gotta go! A- too concerned with power trips...B- public appearance and display sets an example for all to follow....and C- you 3 wear too much lipstick, it leaves a residule on the Supers butt.
When will we start thinking about the educational needs and personal welfare and safety of our children? Test scores are pathetic, behavior is repulsive, administration and faculty members are arrogant and undecisive.
IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE!
But that is just my opinion and not necassarily shared by others......keep that in mind when you blast me.

By the way, Whitham and Windsor, my sincerest appreciation for standing your ground against the normal thinking in that board. It is good to see that some care more about the kids than their personal reputation.

Yeah right, not in our local papers. Too many biased people working for the Ledger and the Buzz.

I have done some research on Soper and what I have read and been told is he is a "YES" man, and during school board meetings he tried to take over, instead of just reporting to the school board. I also heard that he loves power? I hope his interests are in our students, teachers, and community! Our hs has gone to hell and one of our elementary principals has lost his mind! Kids cant talk at lunch time now...Davis needs to go!

We don't need another YES person in politics, we need someone to stand up for the students, parents, and the community!

Why did he resign from his district?

I second that, 2 women have more guts than the rest! Time for recall on Board members, except for a couple!

Let's just watch and see what happens when Soper takes over, going to be interesting to say the least!

Again and Again, if you don't like those of us in the den, please leave the pack. We need people that care to bring the best in. While Soper may have some qualities and be able to do the job, some of us have done some research outside the normal channels. Soper is not the person we need here...not right now. Maybe instead of talking to the boards and administrations from the other towns; which by the way want to get rid of this person so they will say nice and good things, we should have talked to the parents and communities.

Says you are from Holly? Have you asked parents or any teachers about our current Superintendent? His job is just not office work, budget issues; it is also to make a presence in the community and at the schools and get to know the students. Look at the qualifications for the position, it calls for some of these. Dr. Graybeal lacked a lot of these. Some teachers have never even spoke to him, that is sad!

The community and parents and teachers wanted Seaney last time and the board didn't listen, and now they have not listened again. The board says they want our opinions and that they matter, but they never listen.

To have successful schools it takes a community working together! I will welcome the new Super, as I do not even know him and have only heard hearsay, but that doesn't mean I have to like the decision made by our school board!

Board Recall....I'm confused. In capital letters you scream, "it is time for a change," but when the school board brings in somebody new to facilitate change, your knickers get all in a twist. Folks the processed worked and instead of living in your own little silos and complaining, be a positive force of support. Especially for the support and change that Mr. Soper will bring to the Lamar school district. I wouldn't have picked him, but I wasn't at the meetings or presentations. What you disctractors do not realize is that Soper's success is our success and his failures will be our failures...we can not blame anybody else as a community.

Chetfomag58, what I meant by change is that we need a change in the process, in the way things get done. I have nothing against Soper, I have not met him, I only know, yes I have spoken with, members of the community did not- do not like the way he handled situations.
As for his success and his failures, they are his if I have not taken an active role. By taking an active role I will take the responsibility for my actions only- NOT HIS. Do not place me in the silo, as I live and think outside the box, looking at the past mistakes, present failures, and wish to see things done differently in order to make our schools safer, our children better educated, and our community stronger.

...read about our new Superintendent that is coming...I am sure you can research all you want about him.

I suggest we all do it, so we know what kind of person is coming to our community to run our school district!

OMG OMG OMG!!!! Does anyone else think that Lamar's failure to grow and expand and bring in new things could be related to the above people's reaction to "OUTSIDERS"??? When my family moved here years ago, this was such a welcoming community. Now it seems filled with people who just don't want things to change and dont' want new ideas and new blood. Feeling a little threatened are we?? Soper brings experience that is needed for a position like this. Tecklenburg is just NOT ready, maybe he will work harder now to get ready for next time around? Both Seaney and Tecklenburg have some community on their side and some totally against them, all based on personal agendas. Soper should be able to come in without all that baggage but only if the community allows him to. Unfortuneately too many people are going to go out of their way to make him feel unwelcome because they are sad that their buddy didn't get the job. This COULD be a great community with lots to offer but not as long as the above commenters and their cohorts refuse to accept change.

"Says you are from Holly?"

This program randomly picks where it says you are from. I am from Lamar but everytime I post it has me from somewhere different, including TX once. So just cuz it says Holly, doesn't mean that is where the person is from necessarily.
