That was the most horrible experience I have had in my life. The manager (Todd) was filthy dirty and had a bad attitude when our vacationing party checked in, and the following 3-4 hours turned into madness. We were tired from a long trip and had 3 teenagers with us, one of whom was celebrating his birthday with this trip. The cabins were cramped, the mattresses were stained, and we were threatened with the sheriff because the manager claimed our boys broke their pool table. There were more campers out there than just our boys, and our boys did not do the damage. He continued to rant at one of our party on the phone in sheer harassment and threatening behavior. I will not recommend this campground to anyone anywhere. I didn't ask about a refund, but I should have. I just wanted away from there! We had disabled persons in our party and we were vacationing in Colorado to have a good time, not be harassed and treated rudely. Our kids did not do any damage to anything out there.

It is a shame that Royal View Campground has gone down hill. When we visited it years ago, the owners at that time were very accommodating. We do alot of traveling and when you pull into a campground, most likely you are tired and want to get set up. When you run into owners that have a BAD Attitude, it can make your experience one of frustration. A campground depends on word of mouth, when you don't get your repeat customers it can really hurt the business. Todd will lose alot of customers which is a shame, as Royal View Campground was a very wonderful place to camp. The previous owners are the type of people that make your camping experience one of sitting back and relaxing and enjoying the fellowship with other campers. It is to bad to hear about Royal View Campground, it will be missed!

My experience at Royal View Campground was absolutely miserable. If you are thinking of camping in the area of Canon City, dont stay there. Unless you want to be lectured to, have the rules read to you after you just read them (like you are a child), even get yelled at for minor offenses like having your pet on a 10 foot leash instead of a 6 foot as specified in their rules. The owners have the property up for sale and you can tell by the poor customer service they are just plain burned out.

Flew out to Colorado to visit my sister and her family. She thought it would be fun to go camping and show me around their great state. Colorado was great except for the bad experience we had at Royal View Campground. The manager Todd was very rude, telling us that he hated "Tenters" and that we should buy the place it was for sale. Uggh! If you don't like your job you should not have bought the property in the first place. I am kind of glad that he kicked us out for no reason. At least I had a better time with my sister and her family watching movies the next day. And Todd- just a quick note... You should be more respectful to your fellow campers, especially when you own something that our wallets control. It's bad for business if you don't!
