This is horrible! Explain to me how they can leave someone's body in the car, undiscovered? Really makes you think about procedure and protocol, and if everyone is getting too lazy with their occupations.

Thanks for reading the story. I'm wondering myself. Maybe he was in shock ... I wasn't able to reach him. Until we are able to hear from him, I don't know if we'll ever really know.

Thanks Amber for reading the story. Maybe the police, who were also at the scene, will be able to shed more light on what happened there. We'll be hearing more soon. And I'll do my best to keep you posted.

Something doesn't make sense here. Was there bad blood between the son and the mother? I am sure family members would have been asking about her. It was the holidays..when families usually get together. How did the son explain her disappearance? I agree with Jason that maybe he might have been in shock immediately following the accident but doesn't that wear off? It has been 4 months, with repeated questions from the police, the hospital, family and friends and still his memory isn't triggered? I hate to ask the question..and please forgive me but could there have been an insurance claim? I probably watch too much t.v. It is a sad situation. To the family, I am sorry for your loss.

My understanding was that the lady's body was obscured by (as in buried under) the air bag which had deployed. Add to that the fact that the car was pretty much embedded into what I recall was a bank branch. Finally the man was asked several times if there was anyone else in the car and in all cases he said no.

I don't think that there was any negligence on the part of anyone. It seems to me that given what they knew and could observe they all did the best that could be expected. In any event the victim was dead and that would not have changed.

The part that gives me pause is that the son who appeared lucid did not recall his mother being in his car and that has not been explained any further that I am aware.

It is possible for a person (body) to slide up under the dashboard of a vehicle during a high impact frontal collision when they are unbelted in the front seat. The article quotes the only location of the body as being under the Air Bag. Is it possible that this is the case? As for the driver, it seems as though he could have suffered a concussion and his memories were not of that particular incident. Just guesses.
It's a horrible incident and one that hopefully, will never happen again.

LAFD Captain Armando Hogan said: "We didn't find that patient. Of course, that's not something we ever intended to do," he said. "Could we have been more thorough? Obviously. We have taken the necessary steps so that this will not happen again. We don't want this to ever happen again." When the spokesperson for the LAFD said OBVIOUSLY they could have been more thorough... you've got your answer.
