it is pathetic to sue a company for something they didn't have any control over. you so easily forget that someone else killed the clerk, not Allsups. you can have ten security guards at one place and if someone decides to kill you nothing will stop them. people are stupid and do stupid things, how is that allsups fault?

If I recall correctly, the woman was desperate for a job, even knowing the risks. Some apparently view this as a crime in itself? Alsups as most all 'Stop and Robs', are now installing better camera systems and openly viewable cashiers. Much cheaper than lawsuits. Since 2004 in NM, with the ever increasing possibility of a CCW patron on the premises, the risks are now even greater for the 'Perp'. Back East, and in other high risk areas, the robber also runs the extremely high risk of being shot by the,'no nonsense' clerks that have come here to the USA from other parts of this dangerous world. Reality and how we actually deal with it, is not PC today.

When I arrived in Clovis in 1973 a Allsups clerk, female, single, raising a son, was raped, sodomized, stripped naked and thrown out at the back door of the hospital.(Granted she was killed by a sex offender out on parole, so we own the parole board some thanks too). The night was in February and it was 13 degrees outside. Lonnie was going to make some changes to protect the clerks very soon. That was thirty six years ago. He should be getting close to a system pretty soon. Barbara flies to Arizona every week or so. She's looking for how security answers in a beauty shop. I know it's tough to come up with good wages and guards when you have jet up keep. Ranches of course soak up a wad of money. Then there are horses to figure in. I can see why no guards with guns are hidden out some place in the stores. If money isn't a problem, Lonnie, Barbara and the guard would end up in prison if they ever offed a bad guy. It's a no win situation for the Allsups however you cut it.

Guess if you work there, hubby or wifey need to sit outside in their car with a shotgun. It might take one or two dead outlaws, but robbery would fall off some.

Old Thunderbolt carries a conceled weapon anytime He's in the store. Just don't want to find myself in there someday at the wrong time.

Allsup's Enterprises Inc. also owns ranches and farms, a petroleum division, an alcoholic-beverage division and a chain of six radio stations with total assets estimated at more than $86 million.
Oh and they do have stores in Texas, but their employees only make $7.50...also only have 1 clerk on duty on graveyard shifts except Fri and Sat
and don't make the mistake of thinking you are a real person by filing a complaint with corporate over a manager that cuses you out in front of customers, because you will find yourself out of that crappy job as soon as they rack up your 10 writeups...

Some of you people are so rude. I'm from Hobbs and was a very good friend to the person that was killed she was going to school and supported her kids by working there. Allsups took no measures and from my understanding still haven't taken any measures to make sure that their employees are safe. I now live in San Antonio, TX and when you go into the convience stores here they have at least 2 or 3 people working and they have more than one camera in the store. The family doesn't really gain much by getting that money her kids will never have their mother come home to cook them dinner, ask about their day, go over their homework, report cards, watch their sporting events/recitals, watch them graduate, get married or see any of her grandchildren so don't be rude because it didn't happen to you. Show some respect The person that was taken from her family, friends and community was a GOOD person she was a people person and there wasn't anyone that wasn't anyone bad in her eyes. That money is nothing compared to what the family lost.

Didn't check, so if it has already been answered, my bad: Did they ever find and punish who killed her?

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Capricorn

Someone is being very pedantic and picky, and they'll soon drive you round the bend with frustration. They're splitting hairs about all sorts of petty problems, but unfortunately you won't be immune from this yourself. You might get caught up in needless details that don't really matter, or take everything that happens very personally. Try to be more objective.
