It was a beautiful weekend but Mayfest was a joke this year. Hope the chamber is not surprised when there is nobody there next year. I will give the car show people kudos though it was great.

You're correct, Sedan's Yellow Brick Road Festival was not scaled back. It has always been pathetic.

I heard the reason they didn't bring rides and games this year was because that they forgot to bring something last year so they just didn't bring anything this year. Not sure if it's true but that's what I heard.

Mayfest was horrible this year, but I have heard through good resources that it is being turned over to a new set of people who intend on bringing back the old, big Mayfest, the way it use to be put on.

yes, I have heard that new people are takeing over and have big plans. Of course it will take the support of Caney to help make a go of it. It might take a year or two to bring it back to what it once was.

I've heard they will start promoting it in the local papers in the next week or so. It will list all the activities that will be going on like bands playing, carnival, free activities for children, vendors, and of course the awesome Car Show! They are going to try and have something going on from downtown around the Historical Society all the way to the park. Hopefully everyone will come out and show their support in the community, and get Mayfest back to the way it used to be.

The Yellow Brick Road Fair has gone down so much in the past years. Last year all it had was some blow up "activites." The older kids, such as high schoolers, who would come to the fair to ride rides and hang out with their friends had almost nothing to do. Sure the younger kids had some fun, but that is because most don't remember how the fair used to be. When I was growing up the fair always had a variety of rides, games, and other assorted things. Now it's nothing and I feel bad for the younger kids that might not ever get to experience the fair for what it really should be. As for May Fest, I have never been to one, but my friends told me that it was fun and a great place to hang out with their friends and a fantasitc way of starting off the summer.

Mayfest is suppose to be pretty good this year if everything happens the way it is suppose to. The Car Show held the Mayfest together last year and will continue to do the best they can to make it GREAT! We hope that everyone will come out and support it again. They have a turtle race, carnival, vendors, tractors, the Car Show and MANY other things to attend! Check out any information on the Car Show at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Caney-Mayfest-C...

First off, notice that I used my REAL name! I am not going to bash a town or event and not put my name to my opinion, and that is just what these posts are, opinions. To some, this might seem like a "stupid little town," but to others it is a place where people can come together and support one another. For instance, our sixth grade class last Saturday raised $1810.35 by holding a car wash for Kevin Inman who is the father of one of their classmates and is fighting cancer. The students organized, ran, and worked the event themselves while the parents were there to help in any way they could. You do not see that happen everywhere, thankfully we got to see it happen here. Our town has problems, but show me a town that doesn't! We are not perfect, nor do we claim to be. Anyone could get on here and pick any town to pieces, but what would that accomplish? Nothing, so instead of being part of the problem why don't we focus on being part of the solution like all of those who are working so hard on Mayfest are attempting to be. Thank you to those who work to make our community a better place.

Thank you Katrina, finally someone with some...well just say "balls". I am excited about mayfest this year. These people that like to sit around a grip dont realize just how hard and time comsume it is to put something like mayfest together. Also since there is no entery fee for the car show, thanks to Arvest bank god only knows how big that is going to be. This town needs something big like a really good mayfest this year. We need something to get our hopes up about and something to look forward to next year.

We are a new vendor coming to Mayfest offering fresh squeezed lemonade/limeade, cherry limeade and strawberry lemonade, funnel cakes and Hawaiian shaved ice. We also heard it was going to be bigger this year and hope the weather is great and Caney gets a Mayfest it deserves.
