North Carolina, you've finally done it saying to hell with the people that has been what keeps you going. Love, Honor, Trust, Respect, Belief. You just SLAPPED and SPIT every citizen in the face. What ever happens now in on your shoulders, the blood is on your hands.

I was 12 when Johnson took my grandfather from my life, Ill never forget my mother"s screams when she receiced the call of her fathers murder. We were going to visit him that summer,The first thing he would of said to me would of been how much do you love me little one and i would of held-up my hands and flashed 10 fingers continously, I miss him dearly. When someone intentionly takes a life and gets the a death sentenence then the state says its unjust and gives him life without parole who has the right to change the sentance again, I am glad my grandmother wont have to witness this tradgedy.

It is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. So how does a cold blooded murderer get to go free. I would like to find those liberal bureaucrats and put them in prison.

I do not understand how good time and whatever else is being credited to their sentence takes away their 80 years or life sentence especially since they have racked up other offenses during their incarceration. It would be interesting to know how many of these offenders actually return to the system for other offenses in the first 6 months to a 1 year from their release. I feel for the victims as they are being victimized all over again.

Pray, Carolyn. The Lord says 'he will fight your battles" No matter how long the person is locked up, it will not bring your dad back. I know. I went through the same thing. My loved one was Murdered 35 years ago. You never forget, you just have to forgive and move on. I have hope in seeing my love one again, but if I continue to hate the person that took my love ones life, I will never see them again. I'm ssure you believe there is a Heaven and Hell, and if you believe your father is in Heaven, You had better get it together and ask God to help you get over all of that hatered. Is it worse knowing that a Black Man took your fathers Life? It has to be something deep. People just don't hate a person they never see daily for 30 years unless, it is a Racial thing. That is the only time I've known hate to go that far and that long. I will be praying for you and your family to Heal Be Blessed

wouldn't it be something if one of these guys killed a family member of one of the judges that set them free. I wonder if that would make them reconsider their decision.

This is a murder alot of us old-timers remember like it was yesterday. They caught Mr. Johnson in Moore County eating KFC two hours after he had shot Mr. Hall in the face while his wife watched. This guy is dangerous people.....Unemployment is high here in Montgomery County (the poorest county in the state)- who is going to hire him - let me guess as to how he'll earn a living. Lock-up residents!!!!!!

i dont see how these law makers can release these crimals back into the street , people like mrs ashburn and her sister peggy, are law abiding people that lost a loved one to this killer , i think the stste should do it,s job and lock them up for the rest of his natural!!!!!! life isnt that what it mean when you get a life sentence,

this is utterly absurd. her father was trying to earn an honest living, a taxpayer, and this is how the justice system thanks him? life in prison should mean just what it says, your natural life, not until a law changes ,the victimn had the right to live, now the offender wants the right to be free? where is the justice.

My response is for Sandra of Ramseur - I am a christian, and most of the Hall family are christians too. Most of live in Montgomery County, work in Montgomery County, and are very proud to be from Montgomery County. A very tragic event happened to our family - my grandfather was murdered in the living room of his own home - not far from where you see my Aunt Caroline in the video. Mr. Johnson had my grandmother and another man lie on the floor and heard my grandfather being shot in the face. Luckily for us a Pepsi-Cola driver stopping by,was able to get the license plate number. We will be forever indebted to this man - several hours later our great law enforcement were able to locate them in Aberdeen, NC eating at the Kentucky Fried Chicken. We had Mr. Johnson and his accomplish. Sandra, we were relieved to walk from that courtroom knowing that they would never walk amongst us again. They had received the death penalty. A year later, N.C. over-turned the death penalty. Both of them received life - they should have got life without parole - from that point on every 3-5 years and in the last twenty years every year family members would make the voyage to Raleigh to offer testimony as to why they should keep them locked-up. Worse, it was at Christmas time. I watched my father and his siblings every year re-live and face the prospect that they could walk. Luckily for us that they had committed so many crimes in prison they would not release them. Now a decision that they are free to walk without even parole upon their release is just insane. We haven't hated for 30+ years we have only tried to seek justice for my grandfather. Your right we need everyone's prayers right now - Montgomery County residents - lock your doors, keep your loved ones near, safeguard your children; our streets are no longer safe. If anyone wants to post a negative blog - just remember one or more of these criminals will be coming to a county near you thanks to N.C. Sandra - pray and god forbid that they move in next to you and take something very precious from you.

If you knew the Hall's like I do - not a racist bone in their bodies - all good people. They would feel the same if the men had been white. Mr. Hall died cruelly - this is not about race - it's about a dangerous felon that will be let loose to walk among the Hall's as if he has all the right to do so. Can anyone understand how tragic this decision is?
