i hope the city manager can find some other way to save money because laying off 7 firefighters is a real bad idea.
what will happen when the BIG call goes out for a fire and the city does not have any man power to drive the fire trucks to the fire.
the city of Canandaigua likes to plant flowers on main st, maybe they can save money their by planting flowers that will come up year after year, i don't know BUT i sure hope they do not layoff anyone.

How about the big wigs take a pay cut. They never seem to reason with that option huh? Nope! just screw a bunch of hard working guys and their families.

To bad if they had not trashed the volunteer members and had worked with city officials when it came to cutting expenses maybe I could feel sorry for them. Volunteers are hard to come by but thats because of the number of hours of training required.
When you make more in overtime than your yearly pay you know you have problems...council knows it has known it and has done nothing about it throw them all out of office and hire some new fire fighters at a lower pay get out and vote tommorrow.

I am a volunteer firefighter (not for the city) I am very upset that the Union Lawyer had the audacity to get on tv and say that the Career staff was better trained when I know for fact that they have volunteers in that department with more training in trench and other specialties that the career staff. Volunteers have equal training to career staff!!!

If our Paid staff had more training why then did they have to call on our local volunteers to help them that day. An why did they have to call Rochester to the scene.

Newsteam 10 talk to the residents not an out of town merchant who has no ideal what he's talking about. Paid to Volunteer help is on the way when you call Scott. Perhaps the merchants need to worry more about getting a better mix of stores downtown. How many vacant store fronts do you have now? And what are you and your partner doing to help fill them....

This is a big mistake. The volunteer firefighters are alienated and now they want to cut paid staffing. What a joke!

Some of the volunteers refuse to train with the career staff. That causes a large problem. Everyone should have the same training.

Why?? When things happen in the City of Rochester, we always have to hear what all the people in the burbs think.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Cancer

If you have children at home they'll be really playful today and quite a handful at times. Encourage them to burn off all their energy during the day otherwise it will be a case of tears before bedtime. There could also be a fractious atmosphere between you and a loved one, and this will quickly escalate into a row if you aren't careful.
