Mainly Canjo, but a lot of upstate people have some real screwed up priorities! It's like another planet here! Here are the things about Montgomery county people that are just NOT NORMAL! 1- girls that have 5 kids with 5 different dads 2- alcoholics.. people think alcohol is like the fountain of life! 3- people who will live in a crappy falling apart home, but own a brand new tricked out snowmobile 4- RUDE! seriously, it's like manners are none existent around here 5- you treat outsiders horrible! As soon as you learn someone is not from around here, you look for a reason to start trouble with them. Also, if a guy is dressed halfway decent, the guys here hate him, and if a girl is halfway pretty, the girls hate on them. 6- you people ignore the major problems within the corrupt school district and will focus on anything minor that will direct attention away from the bigger problems. 7- the harbor; fights, trouble all the time, other activities that go on there that shouldn't... and you all know this, and it's talked about all the time, but yet, you same people that talk bad about it and know it's a place for trouble still go there! Anyway, i could go on, but i would be an old man when i finished. Anyway, people, try to look at this as constructive criticism and improve yourselves!

Other than the school district issues, sounds like you hang out at the harbor too much. Try to find a better place to hang, there are nice people here. It's a matter of who you choose to surround yourself with.

It's interesting to me that people who complain
about the school district are usually people who
don't do well in school; it's the old "sour
grapes" syndrome. From the way "baffled" writes,
I would guess that English was not your strong
subject; I wonder if you had one? My children
all went to the Canajoharie school and they all
went on to college and did very well. What's
"corrupt" about the school?

Funny ole timer, you seem to stick your nose in every subject on here. Anyway, i think a good point was made here. Your trying to defend the school system and say it's not corrupt? lol, You must be one of the teacher's there that has limited education and shouldn't even be teaching because the students have more common sense than you.

gotta stick your nose in- It's "you're trying",
not "your trying"; it's "one of the teachers
there", not "one of the teacher's there",and it's
"their snowmobiles", not "there snowmobiles".
Talk about limited education! Everytime you post
your inability to use the English language
correctly shows; so keep posting! P.S. You didn't
answer my question about what's corrupt about the
school.

Wow, you sure shut me up! Btw "teacher", it's "every time" with 2 words, not everytime with 1 word. I see your not so perfect yourself Einstein! You want to know problem's with the school? I have many things i can think of that many people as yourself are pretty sure about too, but unlike someone as yourself, who has no common sense, i do not believe in laying all my cards out on the table on what i know about that school. I prefer to let the proper people looking into the matter. The difference between someone like you and i is- You; bury your head in the sand and pretend it isn't happening, where me; i bring it to the correct person's attention and have it looked into. Actually, there are a lot of other differences between you and i beside that, lol, but i will end this nicely by telling you to either wake up, or go crawl back in whatever hole you came from.

wake up- It's between "you and me", not "between
you and I". Again it's "you're not so perfect",
not "your not so perfect". I see you prefer
"to let the proper people looking into the matter",
which really means you don't know anything other
than gossip. P.S. Yes, I want to know "problem's"
with the school; which , by the way, should be
"problems" with no apostrophe. But again, you can't answer a simple question; "What's corrupt
about the school?" So you resort to name-calling
and telling me "to go crawl back in whatever hole
you came from." P.P.S. I'm going to take a wild
guess and say that you haven't brought any problem
to anyone's attention.

The problem with Canjo and it's people is that the people of Canjo mainly fall into two groups: small fish in a small pond who think that they are big fish lording over the second group which are the bottom feeders of society.

Unfortunately the bottom feeders procreate at an alarming rate and this is scaring the small fish with the big fish complex and they try to assert their superiority by ruling the town and the school with no regard for anyone but their selfish interests.

The corruption of which the OP speaks is real and runs deep throughout all levels of local government and school. Only the politically connected and socially accepted big fish wannabes are treated with respect, except for the token charity case once in a while.

This is not unique to the Canjo area. It is a widespread societal disease and the death of the true community spirit that most people wish still existed.

We are witnessing the collapse of the once great American small town. No jobs, no hope, awful education. Its not going to get better under the present conditions, and it doesn't look like conditions will become any more favorable for a positive outlook anytime soon.

Just my opinion.

Canjo can not change so long as the "Old time elders" remain and fail to be progressive. I've seen it personally. It's disappointing... No forward thinking here, let's just put a band aid on it and hope nobody notices the scar....

Ahh, i see you are resorting to playing the "let me correct your grammar game" as a way to try and make yourself look good because you know everything i said is true and you are mad about it! lol! Nice try, but didn't work! Go ahead, fix my grammar mistakes on that one and ignore the fact everything i said is true! Now, i want to tell you you are pathetic! Do i say "your pathetic" or, should i say "You are pathetic"??

wake up- "You're" learning some correct grammar!
Great! "Everything you say is true;" you haven't
said anything yet other than glaring generalities.
You are a "smoke blower" and a "name caller",but
you give no facts to back your accusations.
P.S. Just my opinion- Don't sit there crying in
your soup; get out there and help make a change.
Which group do you fit in? P.P.S. I was an
outsider to the community; my children all went
to school in Canajoharie; one is a doctor another
is an engineer and the other is a school teacher;
the education is there, you have to go get it
and not let anyone stop you. The problem with
our country is that too many people want some-
body to fix the problems; everyone is some-
body, fix the problems yourself!

How did this turn into a grammar lesson?

It turned into a grammar lesson when the people
questioning the effectiveness of the schools
couldn't write a sentence without making
numerous errors. It was the classic example
of "the pot calling the kettle black".

Protect us from what? who? O bomb ya has created an environment where the young men of todays generation have little choice but to go to the armed forces if they want a job, because there are no jobs and they can't afford an education (where there are still no jobs after they obtain the degree).

So they turn to the armed forces, or beecome welfare bums. Either way, they are wards of the state, dependent upon the gubmint and taxpayers to pay their way, and, in the armed forces, unfortunately, they are furthering the questionable political agenda of the Amerikan empire. Not really protecting us from anything, but sure are creating a whole lot of hatred for our country. And don't be surprised if these young soldiers don't end up using their gubmint training AGAINST us citizens at some point in the future, or that our gubmint call our young men to service without them volunteering to go.

Maybe I'm a bit cynical, but I don't necessarily believe that men and women who go into the armed forces really understand to what end their "service" for their country is achieving, and, no matter what their intention is, the end result is not as noble as they would like to believe.
