I'm new to this. Which team is the 4th grade team? Because there's 4th graders on both teams. But being a "player" maybe you shouldn't concern yourself with adult matters.

Canajoharie has finally brought itself down to the level of other towns that use this site to voice an opinion that is negative and cruel. The funny part is, these people are to cowardly to use their name when doing so. Most towns will use this in a positive way to share events and news concerning their community. This entire post makes me ill. These are children and couches who are volunteering their time so that your children can play football. Do you realize how lucky we are to even have this program. We don't have to like everyone, but we can handle things we find unfair in an adult manner. It really saddens me to see all these posts by people who are adults acting like teenagers. My son enjoys his football and if there is something that I have a problem with, I go to the person and take care of it. Talking about people and writing posts to hurt people and degrade people really says something about your character. All of you talking about children and coaches need to put your big girl/boy pants on and take care of it in an adult manner and stop setting out to hurt people. Grow up. By the way, I posted my name!!

Miranda- I agree completely with you. Adults
need to act like adults and handle their prob-
lems in a mature and constructive manner. Let's
not lose a program that has been beneficial to
the youth of our community.

If it's such a great program, then why when a "COMMON" player makes a great play, they get rewarded by being benched?!. It's all about who is who. The "ELITE" players get all the action, even though they are not the best players.
I guess if I purchased equipment for the team, my kid would play more.... Hmmm....
The program causes nothing but heartaches for "COMMON" players and their families. Nothing but a bunch of heartbroken kids.

DEFINITIONS:
"COMMON PLAYER" is a player that is not connected to the coaches and does not have parents who purchase equipment for the team.
"ELITE PLAYER" is a player who is connected, who's parents buy the kids playing time by wining and dining the coaches, etc...

Due to the degrading and oompletely inappropriate remarks about the Hyney family, everyone has totally lost sight of why some people were understandably upset. Let me start by saying that Coach Hyney is a great guy! He has truly devoted his time, energy, and passion to football, as well as other sports. I want to thank you. I can not and will not support the comments about your family.
That being said, Coach Bowerman is also a wonderful, dedicated, and caring guy. Anyone that knows Shawn, knows that he doesn't say much. Upon hearing that Shawn was told he was to take 4 players on his team with no say in the matter, he was upset. By the way, for those of you that keep saying the poor 4 players that everyone keeps talking about (I don't even know which ones they were.)...you are assuming that they were put on his team because they are weak, a 1st year players, etc. If only a draft was that simple...It is supposed to go by other qualities such as weight, speed, etc. I, and many other parents, do not support a coach being told he will take so and so. That's not the way a draft goes. Coach Bowerman was simply trying to pick his own players- TO DO WHAT WAS BEST AND SAFEST FOR HIS TEAM.
When quiet Coach Bowerman leaves a draft feeling angry and not wanting to coach again,I know something was not on the up and up or at least, Coach Bowerman must have felt that way.
Recently, the Hyney's have explained that there was no ulterior motive. As for Coach Bowerman, you probably won't hear much from him.
Let this be done people. Also, next time, can the coaches communicate better so that the parents can give both of you our full support.
As for me, I won't be on topix again!

Oh the truth you speak!! This is the way Canjo sports has worked for years!! Just wait until High school! It doesn't get any better. The **star** athletes are selected at birth! And if any other child shows promise at an early age, the coaches are programmed to quell those childrens strengths by undermining their self esteem, refusing to give them play time, or just simply ignoring the players completely as if they don't exist! Usually the star players have parents who are entwined in the school system some way, either through blood relations or personal connections. Coaches are selected similarly, and any coach who shows a weakness is discredited and removed, or given all the weak players so the teams become "stacked".... oh yeah... Canjo sports are a gem to watch year after year.... after a couple of years, you know exactly who is going to be the senior "star" of the football/basketball teams before it ever happens, and it has NOTHING to do with talent. The other kids are "groomed" to support these "stellar" players as well. Sports would be a good thing for kids if adults wouldn't mess it up for them....

There are so many other areas of this program that have not been fair I can only imagine they don't want it all to come to light.
It is unfortunate and I'm sure the coaches called out here don't like what is being said about them and thier families but the information is true and the opinion part is shared by so many. It was done harshly. Everyone is so up in arms about how "these" people are being treated, but again this is true information. What about the kids that worked just as hard and go home upset and crying because they didn't even have a chance. Year after year these children are disappointed because they drew the short straw and are in the same grade as the coaches kids or those that come from certain families. Where are the people sticking up for them, outraged for them, condeming the coaches for them. Finally someone is speaking out for them. They are not cowards for not putting thier names down they just want people to see truth. They are not trying to hurt any child but to stand up for all the children in the program. Once everyone understands thier is a problem then it can be fixed and the program will be strong until then we distroying it.

Well cry me a river....my son "Johnny" never plays a certain spot. Why does "Jimmy" always get that position. Probably the same thing you idiots on here say at your jobs if you actually work.
Listen clowns, life is what you make of it. How the hell do you know what some kid does in the off time to better him/her for their sports actvities. Problem is you will bring your kids up in a society of entitlement cause "you thing they should get the job" or "the position on the board" or whatever they are jockying for in life.
Get over it. Teach your kids that life is not fair and they will have to overcome obstacles every day. Is all this rederic really necessary in the scheme of life. Do you know someone who may have cancer, recently lost their job, or perhaps lost a loved one. Teach your kids those life lessons and not that sports is the deal breaker in life. Your the janitor that hates the owner, your the employee that thinks the CEO of the company makes too much and your the person who bitches causes your neighbor has a nice car and house. I recieved my MBA from a college my uncle was a professor at....did he help me get that degree cause he taught there....NOT-get a grip morons.
You people are pathetic. Quit bashing Canajoharie and everything that you deem " wrong" with this and that. Take a positive role and quit reflecting negative thoughts on life. Hope this make you think when you read it and you all can hug your kids and worry about the real life experiences they will face and not youth sports.

Listen idiot, they are kids. Kids don't need those kind of life lessons at age 9. What the Hell kind of childhood did you have? Maybe you were brought into Grandma's hospital room when she was getting chemo, because that's life right? Maybe the kids in school should take field trips to trauma centers so they can see what real life is like? Your a moron!

Childhood should me magical, and I'm sorry yours was not.

Let the coaches coach and keep the parents home. It's youth sports for goodness sake. It's not like Canjo is pushing out powerhouse football teams anyway. Sometimes a parent just has to admit their kid isn't very good or just downright sucks. On the opposite end of the spectrum is you have some parents who may have a kid with some talent and they think they're going to USC. This is Section 2 football. Get a grip people!

On Hometeamsonline.com under Canajoharie White and Black if you click on players you can see the current rosters. If you click on past players you can view the past players at least 2 years back maybe more. The past players have their weights listed however this year the first time in at least 2 seasons may three the weights are missing. This seems strange with all the concerns expressed here. Weight is a big factor is football, I realize not the only factor but something to take seriously. I fear for the kids safety in a sport that is already very dangerous. I also have to wonder why this year this information was omitted from the rosters? If nothing was shading why not post them? It just seems like the more information that is brought to light to worse the kids are really being treated behind the scene. I'm on the side of all the kids.

This is coach hyney. If you have an issue with all of this the weights are avaiable if you would like to see me. This has gotten way out of control. You can think what you want if you were at the coaches/parents meeting we explained why the draft went the way it did. Sorry if you don't agree but we did the best we could. Anyway, hometeamsonline.com is there for your conveinence and takes a lot of time to do. If you feel you would like to step up and do this voluntarily then go for it. My wife spent countless hours doing this website. She was not putting anymore effort into it this year due to the negativity of certain parents/coaches. You are lucky she even did that after the attitudes form some of you. So no she did not put the weight because we do have a family, jobs and other sports that our other children are involved in. If its an issue we can just say forget the whole website. You have so much time on your hands being on topix and comparing the last two year on hometeamsonline to this year then I will be gladly to pass it on to you, all you have to do is come see me and i will give the password. This is the first time I have posted because I will not get caught up in all of this but obviously you aren't at the meetings so there is no other way to get you then on this degrading website. Therefore, sheets are copied and available to any parents who have an issue. Besides one kid on the black team who was on my team last year they all pretty much even out. You cannot compare the weight of that one kid to anyone else on either team. The kids that were on my team last year stay on my team. Simple as that. I got two new kids this year that weighed over 100 lbs. The one is a brother to one I had last year so he had to be on my team and the other Coach Bowerman could have taken but he didn't thats his choice not mine or yours. Other than that there were no other kids in the draft that were over 100 lbs. There are 8 kids that weighed under 70lbs. 4 of them are on black and 4 are on the white team. There are 20 kids from 70 to 99 lbs and 10 are on the Black and 10 are on the white. I have nothing to hide so you can come see me and stop all the complaining. There are 7 kids over 100 lbs. 3 of the 7 were on my team last year and like I said I had to take one that was a brother and the other I got in the draft. There are your stats come see for yourself. By the way this is Coach Hyney and i have no problem saying my name.

I think the parent had some valid concerns: you can't compare kids 70-100 pounds in the same group. There is a major difference in the wieghts. As well as over a hundred pounds big different between 110 and 130 or 115 and 170. So I applaud you trying to describe the weights but it doesnt make sense if you just look at the kids. Your wife is talk fondly for all she does to support Canajoharie sports, i dont think pointing out the change in weights was a dig on her just that it is different. She is great!!!

There is no perfect world. I know my son ways 70 lbs soak and wet. I can't make kids gain weight. It is what it is there isn't a lot of weight in this group of kids I can't help that. Last year white had a player over 215 lbs our closest was 160. I can't help that nor did we or the parents complain. I have One kid 183 lbs. I can't help that he was on my team last year when they had a 215 lb kid. I have one that is 133 they have one that is is 125. I have one that is 110 theyhave one that is 110 I have one that is 115 they have on that is 106 and then I have one that is 125. I can't help that he was in the draft like all the others and like i said white could have gotten him. I'm not trying to cheat anyone. In pop warner quarter of these kids wouldn't be able to play because they weighed to much. We went with this league so it wouldn't put any kids out when actually all its done is cause confrontation. I'm doing my best and so is shawn. You can knock me for it im sorry it is what it is. I can go on. They have a kid that is 99 I have one that is 98. They have one that is 96 I have one that is 92. I have one thatis 91 hey have one that is 87. I can go on and on. Like I said all weights will be sent home with the white team tonight.
