get your facts

Auburn, NY

#26 May 9, 2012
there is not a higher use of whites using drugs or more on welfare, please have you been to amsterdam or fonda social services lately, and i agree ky weller if they acted with a little more class , alot of peoplke wouldnt be so racis, but everytime you turn on the tv theres another black person acting like a idiot. just watch american pawn (tv show) then youll no what i mean.there is plenty of white scum out there but the majority of the white population keeps there home and land nice, they talk normal and there not invlved in gang activity, seariously its not white gangs we have a problem with, or our jails arnt over populated with whites, or you dont have to worry about going to the citys and worry about whites carrying around hand guns.our citys could be nice if it wasnt for the majority of them, (not all of them). they should also learn how to talk, instead of talking like a bunch of idiots with no manners, and pull your pants up, so classless

In response to "get your facts" straight...have you taken your own advice: all you have to do is to look at the stats: government stats that support what Utamu has written about the numbers of whites on the rolls. Watching scripted and edited T.V. programs does not count as a legitimate source of documentation. Seriously, I am beginning to wonder how you all have lasted as long as you have.

As I look over the thread of this post, It impresses me how quickly it descended into post slavery rhetoric. I understand or hope that this thread is not a good representation of this town, however they do illustrate my point quite nicely.
Yes ,Go Tell It on the Mountain, get your facts, like many undereducated and under exposed, Gets his perspective of reality from television, which has a long history of misrepresentation of African Americans. He, like most, are surrounded only by those that reinforce their limited understanding of the issues at play and are never challenged to deepen their understanding. and that is what I am asking for from even from those who espouse an anti racist ideology... to show a willingness and a desire to deepen their understanding.
Get your facts, letís take for example the limited area which encompasses Fort plain, Canajoharie, and Palatine bridge, the numbers of black people in this area are significantly below the average and yet this very forum is filled with complaints about the welfare receiving, drug addled and violent people that live here. These are not black people. In fact the few black people I have come into contact with in this area are business owners, teachers, pastors, they have all been college graduates, the few people of color I have come into contact with in this area who were not black were also business owners. I am a black woman who comes from a long line of college graduates, the majority of black people that I come into contact with are not criminals, drug users or welfare recipients, to the contrary they are doctors, lawyers, teachers, journalists... and, get your facts, there are and have always been plenty of white gangs in America the first gangs in the country were Irish and Italian immigrants, that is if you ignore the bands of roving Europeans terrorizing American Indians and of course you donít have much trouble with white gangs, the majority of white gangs that are still active today are terrorizing people of color.

Let me add that this is not a "which race is better" conversation,I am simply saying that if you judged yourself by the same standards as you judge others the results would be similar. Other cultures do not share the sense of pride over the continuing history of atrocities committed by the descendents of Europe. You cannot blame your behavior on others you can only be racist or choose not to be racist and that choice is an active one that includes self education, self evaluation and conscious action.

which part would you consider "kissing my Ass"?

judging yourself by the same standards by which you judge others

or

choosing not be racist and backing that choice up with your behavior?

Oh and by "the worst Kind" you wouldn't happen to be saying that an educated black person(We know what you really want to say)who can defend themselves,is worse than those so called "scumbags" you spoke of earlier?

My children are interracial and when we first moved here they were called all kinds of names by some of the kids at school. One child in particular who lives on the same block, told me that it was gross to see a white person kissing a colored person. I didn't get offended by this but I know that this is what he was told at home. He was only 6 or7 years old. I've been living here for over a decade now, and this boy still lives on the same block. He is best friends with my child. I believe that interacting with us for so long, sleeping at our house, eating our ethnic foods and generally hanging around he has learned that no matter what colors are in our family we really aren't any different then him or his family. So I do believe that with education and positive experiences with other races at school can change the views of some children no matter how their families may view it.

I really appreciate your input,my child is struggling with this now, it is painful to see and as a fellow parent I would love the opportunity to speak to you further about it. Please check me out on face book at Canajoharie people of color. I really would just like to find ways to support the children and support the community in the adjustment.

i work in the city of albany and see alot of bad things and its usally comited by black people, i dont need reality tv to show me how the majority of blacks act, i am not racist, i know really good black people and am good friends with them and i would do any thing for them, my point is that the majority of the black culture in the united stated act like ass wipes with no class, im not talking anywhere but here in the united states, pull your damn pants up, i rarely see whites in albany walking around with there pants around there ass, or talking like there from another planet, what did they come up with there own language or something? albany county jail is right full of blacks not whites, or montgomery county jail 75 percent black, or whites getting caught selling crack on the street corners, yes it happens but not at the black persons rate, bill cosby saw what i see because he talked about it.they spray paint our buildings and are always getting caught with guns, way more than whites.jails in new york right full of them, just check the stats, hey the truth hurts.

I sure will. I always taught my kids to be fair and to know in the end it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, only what they thought of themselves. And most people around here are stubborn and just don't want to learn new things. I dont know why maybe its a small town thing. I also told them not to ever give in to the things other kids might say and that it was ok if they
only had one friend not a bunch. At least that one friend will get to experience a different culture and chance to not judge people because of their race. What age is your child?

I saw that a new person "liked" the Canajoharie people of color page, was that you? If it was I will friend you so we can continue to talk about it. The people on this forum can be pretty mean, I don't want to make my child vulnerable to that by discussing the details on here. But I do look forward to talking to you.
