The country club has not yet sold. It is on the market, but who know how long it could take to sell. There is still discussion on whether they will be opening this spring but there will be no membership for sure. If the community had responded better and the members had not been as stubborn an unwelcoming as they were. John would have had no problem keeping the club open money or not. If he was looking to make money wouldnt he have put the club on the market for more then he paid and invested in it? It was never about the money and he was deeply saddened by the community response.

I don't think it's fair to blame the community for the problems at the course. The owners have taken the fun and spirit out of the place. When it was publicly owned, the course play was not as nice, the carts didn't match, the outbuildings were falling down, and you would sometimes have to fetch your own range balls, but it was always packed because it was fun! Hard working average people could go hack around without feeling unwelcome and then go have a CAN of beer and watch a game or event on the tv in the bar. People would have dinner or a sandwich and not have to spend $50-$75 for two. Don't get me wrong, I went to dinner up there a few times because the food was good and I can afford the prices, but it was always a subdued experience and I left right after dinner because there was no one there to socialize with afterwords.

Perhaps if the owners tried to attract the average middle class, blue and whitish collar workers in the area the volume of players would generate some income. The woods family all went to schools and live in this area they should know who they need to cater to.

i hope they stay open though because i was going to buy a membership this year...the economy being a little better and all

Of course you can't blame the community. The
customer is always right! If people aren't get-
ting what they want at the Country Club, then
they won't go there. Ultimately, it is the
owner's decision to do what he wants with the
club because it is not "publicly" owned. If he
wants to turn it into a chicken farm, that's his
right. Remember the people who owned shares in
the club did sell them to the present owner,
so it's up to him to decide what he wants to do
with it. Maybe someone can but it back and
change it to what people want.

Hey Old Timer
I would love to see people get together and buy it. I for one would love to be part of it, but because of the economy this would not be a good time for average guy.But I am sure there are people in much better shape to do this. I for one will be hoping some people see it this way too.

What kind of cowards trash a girl's good name without revealing their own!?
I never saw anything but a girl working hard and doing what she was hired to do.
Sounds like a lot of sour grapes to me. What? Did Mr. Woods fire your ass for being lazy and stupid? Or are you just jealous of a pretty young thing? And how do you know what her father pays for?
Who's the disgusting piece of trash, eh?
Get your facts straight. If you want to know why the club is closed talk to T Moschetti and Donnny and Betsy Baker! They're the fire starters.

The club will not be opening this year. It will be maintained to keep it eligible for sale as a golf course.

I hope the woods family are proud of themselves for what they have done to the country club and to the community and future generations . The club has stood there since 1931 and it has talen the woods family 7 short years to shut it down . How do you people sleep at night .
