That clerk's office is on the ball. What's her name, Espinoza?

Now all we need to do is outlaw out-of-state money from influencing campaigns. That referendum was decidedly unfair and needs to be revoted upon.

"This is totally out of character for her," he said, adding later, "She was under unbelievable stress and strain. She was actually taking care of her brother in the last years of his life, and it was just sending her off the deep end."

Leniency should be possible only when one takes full responsibility for one’s action. It is so absurd, and so typical for a lawyer to place blame on anything but their client.
All rights to vote should have been suspended during her probation, to be reinstated once all terms are met, if they are met. Vigil could have and should have withheld her right to vote, if for nothing else, for having a lawyer who is blind to one’s personal accountability.

Hmmmmm. Voter fraud. Is she a member of ACORN too. First, this can't be, voter fraud does not happen in New Mexico. Never has, never will because voters in this state are so honest they do not have to prove who they are. I don't care how "honest" she allegedly is she wasn't in this case. I don't care about her excuses or for that matter other people making excuses for her. It's interesting how people have to give all these reasons why they committed a crime. It doesn't matter why (that is unless one is a liberal) the law was broken. It's obvious why the court winked at her, kind of sends a message to others thinking about doing it - go ahead and try and pull it off and if you get caught, well ... we will stand you in the corner for 5 minutes. But if you get by with it great.

Not all conservatives are liberals. Most are republicans.

Let's get legislature to get serious about Photo Voter ID. Sanctify all of our votes and stop all voter fraud. Dems tabled this in last session in spite of it having over 80% approval rating on a study done by UNM.

Most of the advertisement from real estate companies has been pulled off this paper and they now get to retaliate for the loss revenues. This realtor is an idiot but that does not make all realtors idiots...however, if you think so...please post what it is that you do for a living...I would be happy to point out the shortfalls of any profession.

The whole point is that THERE IS NO VOTER FRAUD!! That's why it was so damned easy to catch her.

This scenario is so typical of rich, greedy people -- they have to guard their gold. They gotta get their fix even if they get pricked sometimes -- they can't help themselves. It's an addiction. We need affordable housing for people in Santa Fe, and this provision could have helped with that. But no one wants to give up a little excess trimmings. Greedy, greedy fucks.

By the way, remember David Iglesias? Who was fired because he refused to report voter fraud in New Mexico?(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Iglesias_ (attorney)) Well, this as far as I know is the only case of voter fraud in NM lately, and it certainly wasn't someone who was assisted by ACORN.

I am completely impressed at the performance of the County Clerk's office in this case. Cutting out the obituaries and putting them on the voter's record -- along with checking the death certificates is an excellent way of guarding against "the dead voting". Congratulations to those responsible for nabbing this person.
This proves to me that no voter ID is needed because the system works without the voter ID which is designed to keep legitimate voters from voting.

Good chance someone does.

I am still waiting for a response from the NM Secretary of State regarding expatriates voting in state and local elections. Will be 2 days in about 3 hours.

BS. You need ID for anything and everything else. The only benefit of no ID is for those engaged in voter fraud, meaning political parties. Meaning the Democratic Party.

gosh. Another example of your ill informed nonsense causing someone to waste tons of time: There are no domestic expat: one can be registered to vote in only one jurisdiction where they claim to be domiciled. One cam have many residences but only one domicile.

Wow. Am greatly impressed (not) by folks jumping on the "bash Realtors" bandwagon. So when a person of a particular profession does something wrong (which Ms. Monahan clearly did, I'm not defending her actions) that makes the entire profession worthless? Well, that's a really balanced & rational decision to make....

Once again you perpetuate urban legend in your attempt to sound relevant and smart. ID is a backdoor poll tax but since you can scrape up the car fare and the 12 bucks to get said ID what do you care if someone loses their right to franchise due to their economic circumstances.

Susan you are right on in your comments. It's because of what her profession represents to liberals, i.e. big development, greed, high incomes. If this woman had been an illegal, someone working at McDonalds or a union member there would be few comments against her. Heck they would be defending her rights, or explaining it away as someone frustrated and wanting to better social conditions. Hypocrites with double standards. The people who are bashing her because of her profession are probably the same ones defending ACORN.
