Given recent flaps in the news of late regarding Tea Party billboards in Iowa and one "spokes-entity" of the Tea Party's racial comments I think we should consider a quote: "Mankind has a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a ...

Hey Billy,

"They should have come into existence sometime in the first Bush administration ..."

It did. Do some intellectual labor. Then you will know.

"...lie-clad media bully-blathererng...".

Invented by the now impotent MSM, where you probably still get all your news.

"...consistently ranked as one of the worst American presidents.
.".

Only in the condescending pablum-peuking seculiar-progressive circles you run around in.

Nice letter William Meire and all very true! Just look at the bone headed reactions from those very people up above this post. You are so correct in your assertions.

Mr. Meier is just another dumb liberal who doesn't have the facts and will say anything out of hate.
In Mr. Meier's letter he states that President Bush ran up a ten trillion dollar debt (wrong). When President Bush left office the debt was just over one trillion and 800 billion was due to the bailout for the banks (which Obama approved). The 800 billion was only a short term loan to the banks and once the banks paid back the money, it was to be used to pay down the debt. This would have brought the debt below a trillion. Instead, the banks have paid back most of the 800 billion but instead of paying on the debt, Obama has used the money. Obama has been in office 18 months and he has raised the debt to 13 trillion. Mr. Meier please get your fact straight. Your letter is filled with wrong information.

When Mr. Meier and others become so rattled and unhinged at the very mention of The Tea Party, we should recognize how very popular and powerful they have become.

As I have said many times, if the T.P. was irrelevant, they would be ignored. And they sure as h e l l aren't (example: Mr. Meier's letter).

I've been a 912er (there is no "tea party") since the start and never saw or heard a single racist sign or statement, and wouldn't expect to, as there are citizens and voters of all races and ethnic backgrounds in the group.

The claims that racists statements were made to politicians in Washington were lies. No video or audio was ever found and videos taken at the moment of the alledged incidents show nothing.

At other events, the left wingers have planted people with inappropriate signs and have been exposed and asked to leave. That is a Saul Alinsky tactic.

Those who join the "tea party," were not happy with Bush running up the debt but lacked the organization to nationally make a statement. Once it was obvious that each and every MONTH of the Obama debt was greater that 1 year of the Bush debt, things came together.

Our country is moving towards a facist state, with the government takeover or involvement in banks, car companies, health insurance, and now oil, and bankrupting the future in the process. Some people see this happening, others, like Mr. Meier, bury their heads in the sand and by the time they realize what hit them, it may be too late. The billboard was extreme, but history is repeating itself and the Iowa group might have felt it was the only way to wake people up!

American should welcome dissent as represented by the Tea Party. Even in colonial times, the original tea party people were not held in high regard by everyone, but as we know in hindsight, the colonial tea party people were doing the right thing.

People will always try to squash any kind of dissent and try to maintain the status quo. Fortunately, most people in this country realize that dissent is a good thing and it's only when any kind of dissent is NOT ALLOWED and NOT TOLERATED that we TRULY HAVE A PROBLEM. So let the writers of letters like this make fun of and put down the tea party people because that is their right, but we should always protect the right of dissent.

Very true, Bill. Now watch the spittle fly from the Right. They gave W a free pass to bankrupt the country and dismantle the constitution, and now they want to "take it back" and do it again. F them, we won't let it happen.

Funny that these are the very people who defended the Bush administraion policies that lead us to disaster. They didn't want to listen then, they are still on the wrong side of reason and still don't want to listen. Mass insanity or something like that. And because they think single mindedly we are suppose to appease them when they are aggitated? Ha, not on your life sister!

Tea party people are made up of people from all three groups, Democrats, Republicans and Independent voters. Both parties brought us to our current economic problems. Both parties were not doing their job. Government in general failed our country and until people realize that, nothing will be resolved. Government likes it when Democrats fight Republicans tooth and nail because it takes the pressure off the real culprit in this whole mess which is government. So it is in government's best interest to set each group up against the other because while all this infighting is occuring, everyone loses sight of the real problem. It's our system that is sick and that's what tea party people seem to be saying. I am not a formal member of the tea party, but I get their message and they have a right to it.
