The trend in Massachsuetts has been towards decriminalizing marijuana. Let's hope such a trend doesn't extend to the dangerously addictive drug of heroin.
Sadly, at least some of the money involved in the heroin trade ends up in remote parts of Afghanistan, where it is used to fund the killing of US, and other NATO soldiers. I pray that the people involved in this case receive the forgiveness God offers them, and the healing and power to overcome addictions such forgiveness brings. |

This must look good on the news that Gt. Barrington is a top 15 town in N.E. This might bring in more to take their place. But this really good news . Good job task force. Now lock the bastards up for a long time

It was announced today that Gt. Barrington will be featured in High Times magazine as one of the Top 5 New England towns to purchase heroin.

Hey Dumas..
I was thinking the same thing when I read this. The Concerned Citizens group was nothing more than a bunch of pathetic low class imbeciles.(and yes you dont have to be poor to be low class) So yeah, why aren't they concerned anymore? It couldn't possibly be that they realized they made themselves the laughing stock of the Berkshires could it? Nah. I'm with you Dumas..they are only "concerned" when it involves their stupid bratty undisciplined kiddy poos. |

Sad that there is a market for this poison. They should not just arrest the dealers but also arrest the users. If people didn't want the poison there wouldn't be dealers peddling it. Good job by the police in busting these death merchants.

There are many more out there to still get. Do not for a second think that this bust will end the huge heroin problem is Great Barrington!

All those who think there won't be five more people to take their place, raise your hands. Prohibition didn't work the first time and it isn't working now.

WHAT!!!!!So legalize heroin, Adam? Sounds like you're worried your dealer is OOB. |

Deciminialize heroin. The laws against it do more harm than good. For the record, other than an occasional brew or highball, the only mind altering substances I've used since the Reagan Administration were prescribed by a licensed physician. |

No one ever mentions trying to set up some kind of public group, or help for this very highly addictive, constantly growing problem in Great Barrington. Everyone knows its there, everyone knows it"s happening..we set up everything for the tourists here, why can't we set up something to help the kids? We all want it off the streets, yet even by locking up a few, they'll just be more. Isn't there anyway we can reach out and help so it stops? Or do we wait for someone's child to die? That's the problem...they don't realize-one time can kill you- just one..

Barrington isn't exactly South Bronx. Most kids have two parents, and most parents have IQ's with three numbers in them. If the parents did their job, there wouldn't be much of a problem, if any. The police and DA are not, indeed cannot be, surrogate parents. |

Great Barrington has plenty of activities, groups, and programs for the young people and always had. South County has never been shy when it comes to funding these programs. The kids have no where to go excuse doesn't work in this community. Now if the kids or parents don't reach out to them, that is another problem, their's. |

These kids and adults unfortunately have nothing better to do.And lets be really stupid and do this right across the street from the Police Station how dumb can you be? Honestly the only way to teach them is to put them in jail for a very long time, but they keep letting them get away with it and slapping them on the wrist instead of solving this problem! Put them away for 10 years and maybe that will solve things.. or possibly longer.
