I wish more attention was paid to this case so that it could be solved.

Some here said that an extramarital affair went bad... did they tell the police?

I just was bumping this thread because it's homecoming weekend at Plymouth... and this woman's family deserves some closure.

The guy that probably did it was arrested in Mass a short time later for a very similar murder. Her step brother was a suspect for a long time in the investigation, but I don't believe he did it. It seems to have been a crime of gain, she had been to an ATM near her home shortly before her death. I can only speculate like the rest, but I do know several of the people involved, both suspects and law enforcement.

Interesting Mike. The person who your talking about I believe is Craig Conkey, he was arrested for a murder in Lexington MA. It's become somewhat of a famous case because he's had two mistrials after convictions and is awaiting his third trial for the murder.

The connection to this case was reported in the press a couple times in the late 90's but since then there has been no talk of it. Clearly they don't have enough evidence to prosecute. I'm wondering if the police are holding off on charges pending this third trial, on the off chance he's set free?

I have a tough time thinking this was a simple robbery gone wrong. For one I can't imagine she had a lot of money and two I don't see why the FBI profiling unit would be involved if it was that simple a crime.
Just a thought...

I hope all the sex offenders were checked into on this case. There are a few from that area as well as the surrounding towns.

I have an odd story about this case, maybe it's a connection maybe it's a coincidence ... my mom had told me a very freaky story from this time, I've hear it twice and decided to look up what she was talking about. Does anyone still look at this forum? Is this case still unsloved? Are their detectives still actually looking into this case?? Can't find much information, so I don't want to throw out weird theories ... but I get a eerie feeling when my mom tells me about her experience at Plymouth a couple weeks before the murder.

I was living in the area at the time of the Reed murder.
College personal thought the murder was committed by the woman who was having an affair with the same prof the Reed woman was seeing.
