Sounds like someone is a sore loser. Wining this pagent isn't that big of a deal. It is just local, and they don't go on to the bigger pagents. So what is the big deal.
But from the last names I am seeing only one could possibly have any pull and that is Cassie. I know her and her family and very much doubt that. She is a sweet girl just like her older sister. Just because her mom is a teacher and she comes from a big family doesn't mean it was rigged.
congrats

It is sad that we still have "beauty" pageants. These young ladies should be recognized for something other than beauty.
Do these young ladies do anything other than walk across a stage? Do they have to do an interview to show that they have some intelligence? Are their grades and their community service considered in the scores?
These things are so outdated, but as long as everyone enjoys it, I suppose there is no problem.
Just surprised that the Woman's Club would be involved with a "beauty" pageant since I thought they were all about uplifting women.

I am sure that Cassie is at the top of her class academically. I am also sure she is involved in community activities such as her church. I don't know about the others.
I don't like pagents either. I think they place to much on beauty and not enough on the girl/woman as a whole. Our woman's club is just a social club for those that think they are upper society and those that are hanging onto thier coat tails.

"Outdated," you said exactly what was on my mind! I wish the women in this community would find more ways to lift up our young ladies. We have so many pretty girls here that need to develope other skills. AND, how can any normal person tell little girls that one is prettier than the others!

If you are going to do something like this, at least have them do interiews, count community service as part of their score, offer scholarships, perform a talent, but for goodness sakes, don't judge them on beauty. That is so degrading and archaic.
And, I absolutely agree, how an a normal person look at these little girls and tell one that she is prettier or more photogenic than the others. Talk about self esteem issues later in life.

There's nothing wrong with a beauty pageant. If you're pretty enough, go for it.

It's not based on who's prettiest. It's based on poise and personality and all kinds of other things, not just beauty!!!

Part of life is realizing that you don't get everything you want. It is more the parents job than society's job to make sure someone self esteem is good.
Even though I don't agree with beauty pagents as a general rule, they are not all bad.
Society will judge someone on thier looks. Doesn't mean it is right but it is a fact. If some skinny air head big boobed blonde comes into an interview and then some overwieght mousy brown headed glass wearing woman comes into the interview, who do you think is going to get the job? It isn't going to the overwieght person even if she has higher qualifications, or more job experience. THe big boobed skinny blonde is. Shame but the truth and we all know it.

How is it based on personality if they don't talk to the girls one-on-one? I would suspect that you cannot know a girl's personality if you only see them walk across the stage, say their name, and answer a question.
What other things are they judged on?

This is 2012 - we should be far past the time that we support beauty pageants. They are degrading to young women, they do nothing for their self esteem, they pit these young girls against each other, and quite frankly, they are way outdated.
I simply cannot understand parents allowing young girls to strut across a stage for no other reason than to compete with other girls for a crown saying they are the prettiest.
And these women's club should be offering other choices for these young girls - educational opportunities, instilling volunteerism, promoting community service, and teaching them that their success in life should be based on something other than their good looks.
Have no idea who the judges are, but they should be people that have no connection whatsoever with any member of the organization that is sponsoring the event or the contestants.
