How exactly is success measured?

That must be determined first. And by what standard?

And in that is the problem. Success, you might find, is never acheived. The goals always rise. Ever higher and higher. It gets rediculous. Its easy to track those that are after more....they go into politics.

Success is a lie. True success is living a life being happy. To often we believe that you need money or some other false BS to be successful....its sad realy. People working thier whole life and missing the point of the beauty of living.

This is a stupid thread. Ask yourself, are you happy? If you are, you are successful. If you aren't...then do something about it.

I don't think money or prestige makes a person successful. I think if you graduate high school, have a job, don't do drugs, pay your own way and don't rely on the government, support your family, own a car, own a house, etc, you should be considered successful. If you look at it this way, there are a lot of people in this area that are NOT successful. There are people that I do consider successful in this area too and I salute them for trying to make a difference.

Yes. he grew up at the end of Shady Lane at the Stillwater Bridge on a farm. He went to Wolfe County grade and high Schools (1980), E.K.U., Louisville med.school and when his dad lost part of a hand in a farming accident, Ben went into the Plastic Surgery field. His maternal Granfather was Dewey Tyra. Bens' parents live in Winchester now.
Really, he grew up here just like the rest of us. He is a good guy. Last account I had he was working at Loma Linda University Hospital in Loma Linda California.

Yeah, we have heard this. Have we heard that he became a plastic surgeon. He has went to medical school and all...have we also heard his mother has had cancer and he hasn't been to see her one time. He could get some things done for her, but has he? No! Is this how success is measure?! I surely hope not!

Kenny Bell...maybe..we'll see...from what I see now, it's possible. He remembers where he came from or so it appears.... If he can still ramain down to earth and it doesn't go to his head, it's possible. Seems to me like so far he is trying to improve things. Yeah, he maybe he was left a mess to deal with, but it seems like he's doing the best he can. He has put people in places to where they can get the job done. At least one place in particular needed some teachers and administrators who care and will work...well..it's getting done. Keep up the good work Mr. Bell.

I agree that it's hard to define success. Some of these people have left Campton and are successful in huge Metropolitan areas. Kenny Bell, Kenny Proffitt and others are successful, yet they are big fishes in a small pond" here at home. One might wonder how they would do if they moved to a big city? Ben Childers, Freddy Wright,Anthony Neff and Andy Graham are competing with some of the top people in their field...not just the Creech family!!:)

I think that Steve Johnson should be added to this list. He went to Cornell and to Law School at UK I believe. He is definitely a successful guy.Ther are also several others that I can think of who have been really successful. Actually, in reading this poll one thing crossed my mind. As much as people complain about our school system in Wolfe County...all of these successful people went through it and are doing well. We should all be proud that they attended our school system and that they represent our county well! I sure am!

That is a good point! These people have gone through the school system, studied hard and been successful. One other point,I am really happy for the folks who have left Campton and done so well, but appreciate Mr. Bell, Steve Johnson, Kenny Profitt and others who have stayed and helped our community.Let's hope that our kids receive an education good enough to prepare them for college and the careers that they might choose.

You must be on welfare or some type of public assistance...most people have to strive to be successful and work to support their families. Those who don't appreciate success...usually haven't found any and that's what's really sad...
