Has anyone been able to contact the RECC concerning the power outages? All I get when I dial the outage number is a busy signal. Are these people arrogant or what? Why have a number to call when they leave the phone off the hook?

Because they are very aware electric is off everywhere and they cannot hire someone just to take calls telling them what they already know

Have you ever heard of public relations? Sometimes it just helps to have someone on the other end of the line to reassure paying customers that they are aware of the problem and are doing everything they can to solve it.
LVRECC lacks public relations skills. That was quite evident during the ice storm last year.
I don't think anyone is questioning their desire to get everyone's power restored, but they certainly need someone in management to attend a PR symposium.

Did you read the report in the Wolfe county news this week about what the PSC,(PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION) is requiring of OUR Co-op? Licking Valley is failing in several areas at the same time requesting a rate increase from us! They're getting one, but they have some explaing to do to the PSC, but I guess they figure, no need to explain anything to us.

The city of West Liberty has K.U., lucky them !!!

That is exactly right. They may have information, but the customers don't. If they don't want to answer the telephone what would it hurt to at least have a recording? As far as I knew, I was the only one without power. They definitely set the standards for rudeness and indifference

They could at least post online like they do in other places. Other companies post where they are working, where it is out and what day they plan to work each area. Yes I know you can't get online if you have no electric but families do communicate with each other.

I fully agree that a recording would at least let the consumer know what is happening and if it is a massive outage. Some type of idea of how much time perhaps may be involved. I too received the busy signal over and over and over. When I did contact a human, I was told everyone is having bad weather and we have a crew working on it. I was also informed there was one crew of three working in our county with massive outages. We currently have power and I am praying it stays on through the night.

I think they need a little competetion and so does the phone company. Other small towns have a choice as to what company to go with. All we have is a monopoly that we pay double the rates to compared to other areas.

My bad, didn't know you needed attention. Maybe they could come over, read you a bedtime story, and put a mint on your pillow every night so you feel better. Come on, get real.

Wow, seems as if a nerve was touched.
This is typical of small town Eastern Kentucky. No clue how to be a first class organization. This utility company is the only one that I have known that does not allow one to pay a bill online, either by credit card or check. It is the only one that does not have an automated line for updates of power outages, where work is being done, etc. It is the only utility that will not forward bills on a temporary basis. Face it, LVRECC is not a Class A organization, but it does only what it's customers demand - and evidently in this case, they demand very little.
I don't actually think that most people need bedtime stories from their power company - mints on the pillow, maybe!

Think of the guys who are out there freezing there a**es off, working in the cold weather while you all are whining while sitting home where it is half way warm at least. God, nobody has any freakin' compassion for these guys. Don't you think they are doing the best they can. They have families sitting home with no electric too. They sure the hell would like to be in your shoes at those times. Shut up and think about it!

Did you even read what people were saying? No one, absolutely, no one said anything about linemen or those out working in the cold weather. They were talking about management. Do you not comprehend the difference? They are talking about those in the administrative office - the ones that are making management decisions - the ones who should know about public relations. And I really don't think anyone was whining. They were simply making an observation that there should be, at the very least, a recording, at the home office. The fact is, as one poster stated, they only do what their customers demand and these customers demand nothing! They absolutely need to get with the program - this is 2010. Technology is wonderful - and useful! And, the right to make an observation even when people like you misunderstand what is being said.

Well genius, the last I heard is that LVRECC is a co-op which means we are all part owners which make us all management so yes, if they are bitching about management they are bitching about our linemen too. Before you try to make yourself smarter than you really are, think about what you are saying. And yes, all I see are a bunch of whiners.

I do not consider myself part of management, maybe you have more input that I do. Usually when someone starts complaining about intelligence, there is a concern on their part about theirs. I would never put myself in a position of portraying myself as smarter than anyone - I just have an opinion - one that you seem to disagree with. I would doubt very much that those linemen who are out working in the inclimate weather consider themselves as part of management. They have absolutely nothing to do with decisions that are made about public relations and the way the business is run - and neither do I.
You seem to protest a bit too much!! But, then again, you are entitled to be a bit obnoxious - just like the rest of us.

Well, that's what co-op means. Look it up. I know the school system here sucks but we can help each other out with this kinda thing sometime to make up for it. Whether you consider yourself management or not, you are if you are part of this community who gets their electric from EKCC.

If the people is part of the co-op, then why do family members keep passing down their position on the board to other family members. Why doesn't the people have a say so or vote in it??
