Wake up people did you know that if Taylor County Rescue takes you to the doctor or hospital they will not come back to pick you up even when they took you to the appointment! What gives people, you took a good friend of mine to Lexington for a simple surgery this morning at 5AM and my friend was ready to come back to Campbellsville at 11AM but my friend had to get an ambulance from Lexington to come home! Now at 8:30PM tonight my friend finally got an ambulance to pick them up and bring them back to Campbellsville, I would really like to know why this situation was handled in this manner! I assumed that if my county ambulance service took me somewhere that when it was time for me to return home that THEY WOULD COME BACK, but oh, no! I'm upset and this is just not fare to anyone to be done this way! Especially when my friend could not express their feelings, this is bad and I would not have thought that this would have happened here!

Better yet I think my taxes in this county should count for something since I do not use the damn ambulance service for myself or family as of the last 4 years, so as far as my taxes go to help pay for the damn services people should be able to count on their own service to make plans or expect and take a call to go pick a person up that they dropped off in Lexington! If you want to discuss this U know where I work so please bring it on smart ass!

this person MAB is talking about is someone who can't make decision for themself so that is why she is so concerned. this person had an appt. in Lexington for a procedure to be completed and this person was most likely scared and was not using the ambulance service as a taxi service.

This might be a silly question, but wouldn't it be a whole lot cheaper and more convenient to rent a car or pay a family member, friend, or neighbor to take someone to and from an appointment in Lexington?

Wouldn't an ambulance ride run several hundred dollars for that kind of distance from here?

Not knocking or ridiculing anyone, just curious. Thankfully I havent had to ride in an ambulance yet, though came awfully close to it a couple of times lately. We have to go to Louisville quite often for doctors appointments ourselves.

Well Mab, no I dont know where you work but it sounds to me like a HIPPA violation if you know so much about this situation.. Im just saying, your county has to be covered, its Rescue, not Ron and Brendas.. Lexington has these non-emergency services there for a reason. You should really educate yourself on these things and state laws before you get on topix to bitch about it. So now kiss your ass.. haha!

Yes considering what a run cost these days it might be cheaper but if the person cannot travel by car, or a wheelchair how would U suggest they get there! First of all this was the only MD that would doctor this person, we went that route with no success! No MD in surrounding counties could do the required expertise! And it was a nescessity to have this health issue resolved!

could the person not have had someone schedule him a ride through RTEC? they provide medical transportation but i do think that you have to have medicaid to utilize the service.
I do agree that the county resuce should not have been expected to wait around for this person to get out of surgery nor should they have been expected to travel back to the county just to return in a few hours to pick up someone who was not an emergency situation.(unless the person was returning back to a health care facility here.)

Sounds to me like Mab should deal with it properly if she has such a problem with it rather than immaturely placing it on the wonderful world of topix

You know In defense of the ambulance service I have to say that they shouldnt be expected to sit and wait for a minor surgery. You never know how long those things can last. And we may have something go on here that we need the ambulance for. BUT I get so tired of hearing them gripe on here about having to do this and do that. Thats your job, do it and quit crying about it.
