We found a huge rattle snake. I have never seen a snake that big and never want to again. Someone had cut the rattler off and left the snake. There is no way I would swim in the water.

Just because they are on the C-ville topix doesn't mean they are from here. I look at other towns and states on here.

I have been on that lake for many years and yes there are alot of snakes around that lake.About 3 years ago a man celebrating his Birthday was bit by a copperhead. He went to climb up on a rock and put his hand onto a rock and the snake tagged him.So the lake is fun but you can't be climbing on rock ledges and not exspect to run up on snakes. The problem with Rattlesnakes is we have no antidote her at our Hospitals so that causes a problem.

Oh gosh! My daughter and I went swimming there thursday night! We didnt see anything but we were joking about how a snake might be in the water. None of the campers seem to be alerted to anything. Lots of kids and their families were in the water inside the yellow floating markers. That was around 6:00 pm.

Most of the larger snakes here are harmless, usually brown water snakes, rat snakes. Haven't heard of cottonmouths being this far north and east, but it is possible. You will never see most of ths snakes, especially rattlers 'cause they avoid humans if at all possible. Don't let the "what ifs" ruin the fun. You have a better chance of never seeing snakes than seeing them.

Some people worry 2 much, I mean shoot these snake have been here forever. Most snakes will not go after someone unless u go after them. People are bitten from time to time but more often out of the water than in. I been in creeks ever since i was a kid and there full of snakes and sometimes u c them slide in the water but most of the time to get away not to go after u. I can only rememebr one time a snake came after us; we was in a flat bottom boat and it was raised out of the water coming right for us. Took the paddle and gave a swing and knocked it way back. Like anything use ur head and have fun.

Lots of cottonmouths around the Green River Lake. Also lots of Copperheads, rattlesnakes, rat snakes, hognosed snakes, and many others.
