i'm wondering what the majority opinion is on facial piercings... and i don't mean 5 or 6 piercings, looking like someone lost a fight with a tackle box. i mean one, maybe two piercings. would you automatically have a lower opinion of that person than you would have otherwise? what's your view on it?

One or two facial piercings are ok. But I guess I am a little bias because my 19 year old son has them. But they look just fine & he is a good kid but unfortunately a lot of people do not see it like I do. He has had a hard time finding a job even at a factory. They only see the piercing first and do not pay any attention to his personality or work ethics. If I were younger, I would have my nose pierced.

You know, Campbellsville apparently cannot handle change in a social norm and this has been so forever. I have had facial piercings and I congratulate anyone who does it. Because they do it does not mean there is something wrong with who they are, how they act, and their intentions. To be honest those who drive around in fancy cars, carry the fanciest purses and man bags, and wear the golden jewelery...that says more about that person than someone with a facial piercing. I had rather be about expression and art versus consuming items to show how much money I have. Difference of oponion I guess.

i would love for you to meet me =] and i don't mean that in a smart a@@ way. i'm being sincere. i don't think that b/c you have a facial piercing or two, that you're a loser, or trashy. and if more people were more open minded and less judgmental, they would realize this...

although, i do understand in some circumstances why people would have that opinion.

and i'm not saying that anyone is right or wrong.. i wanted sincere opinions, and that's what i'm getting =] so thank you all.

I use to have my nose pierce, no one really said much, they just stared. When I tried to get a job. NOT ALLOWED. Which I understand it's a place of business. I don't judge people by what they choose to do with their body.

I think they are fine. It's just a way of expression, same as tatoos. The one thing you must remember though, it is not the norm. So dress for the job interview you are going for. If it's on a factory floor, it would be fine to have tats & piercing showing, if you will be the public face for the company, then you might want to reconsider having them in, unless the majority of your customers are younger in age.
Just some thoughts.

First none is a loser for a piercing or a tattoo. I am a manger and I fire and I hire people. I have tats and piercing myself but I have to take them off and the tats have to be covered at work. I personaly don't see anything wrong with either but companys don't like them, right or wrong some do judge them. If someone comes into my dept for a interview one of the first times I have to look at is: Does he/she have any visible tats? Does he/she have any piercing besides in the ear? and if yes my company will not let me hire them. Rule of thumb cover you tats for a interview and take out any piercing. And once you get on you will get a company hand book and they will say no visible tats and no piearcing other then in the ear. as I stated I don't mind them I have to keep my arms covered when I am at work but companys don't see it the sameway I do.

Ok with me: Your son will have to take his piercing's out and cover up his tats or most companys will not hire him for that reason. Even factory's. I am a manager at a factory here in cville and I am not allowed to hire anyone with tats or piercing's other then the ear. So if they come in with piercings or tats its automatocly a no. I can't go hire them.I don't agree with that but company policy will not allow it.

Yes, they look trashy. Immediately they are pidgeonholed by how they look. The same is true of tatto's. They all make people look like slimy trash.
